Hastings track and field teams compete in Section 2AAA True Team meet
The Hastings Raiders boys' and girls' track and field teams competed in the Section 2AAA True Team meet at Eagan High School last Tuesday, May 7. The boys took fourth behind Stillwater, Eagan and Woodbury with 552.5 team points while the girls were fifth with 493.5 behind Stillwater, Eagan, East Ridge and Woodbury.
Both teams competed in a triangular on Tuesday, May 14, at Hill-Murray and then have the Metro East Conference championships on May 21 and 23 at Simley. Sections are May 30 and June 1 at Lakeville South.
Senior Amar Thomas took eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.92 seconds, junior Colby Zak finished 17th in 12.22 and freshman Brett Halverson placed 21st in 12.41. Junior Beau Durand took 10th in the 200 with a time of 24.30, Thomas finished 13th in 24.57 and right behind him was Zak in 14th (24.60). In the 400, junior Logan Dalmas was the runner-up with a time of 53.37, freshman Charles Milhollin finished 11th in 56.54 and fellow freshman Steven Krey placed 19th (57.21).
Junior Isaac Huntington was third in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 1.77 seconds, junior Daniel Brown finished 14th in 2:08.21 and sophomore Kyle Stoltz was 17th (2:14.86). In the 1,600, all three of the Raiders' runners finished back-to-back-to-back. Junior Jakub Youngstrom (4:59.78) took 17th, sophomore Evan McGinnis (5:00.72) was 18th and fellow sophomore Nolan Myers (5:03.89) placed 19th.
Junior Luke Harris finished 16th in the 3,200 with a time of 10:49.48 and freshman Tyler Bushinski and Thomas Siebenaler were 18th and 19th with times of 11:07.52 and 11:21.77 respectively.
Junior William Johnson took 14th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.96, senior Paul Kendall finished 16th in 19.35 and fellow senior Austin Weeks placed 20th (21.07). Kendall took 12th in the 300 hurdles, sophomore Cameron Olsen was 16th in 47.46 and Weeks was 19th with a 49.53. The Raiders 4x100-meter relay team was third with a time of 46.81, the 4x200 finished fourth in 1:36.21, the 4x400 team placed third (3:34.78) and the 4x800 was sixth in 8:52.10.
Senior Isaac Rabaey took 11th in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches, and Johnson was 20th with a 5-2. In the long jump, senior Noah Kullmann took ninth with a 18-3, Johnson finished 16th with a 17-4.25 and freshman William Meyer placed 22nd (15-3). For the triple jump, Johnson took 10th with a leap of 37-11, sophomore Michael Gruwell finished 20th with a 31-6.50 and right behind him was Meyer in 21st (31-1).
Senior Matt Myers took second in the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet, junior Jackson Kirchoff finished ninth with a vault of 10-0 and fellow junior Andrew O'Brien placed 15th (8-6). Senior Sullivan Levos was the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 139-5, Rabaey was not far behind in fourth with a 120-7 and senior Nick Foster placed 16th (95-10). In the shot put, Rabaey, Levos and Foster took seventh, eighth and ninth with throws of 41-3.50, 41.3.25 and 40-1 respectively.
Eighth-grader Tayghan Wilkerson took 10th in the 100 with a time of 13.64, freshman Madison Kennedy finished 17th in 13.98 and sophomore Trinidie Brannon placed 24th (14.92). In the 200, Wilkerson took ninth in 27.93, freshman Samantha Molitor finished 20th (30.24) and right behind her was junior Brooklyn Byrd who placed 21st with a time of 30.72.
Senior Mallory Brake took fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.32 and freshman Lillian Hayes finished 15th in 1:10.18.
Sophomore Avery Daley took eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:34.71, junior Emily Biscoe finished 10th in 2:37.80 and sophomore Hannah Schultz placed 2:52.59. Sophomore Linnea Urban took eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:34.01 and freshmen Autumn Adricula and Ella Kelly were 17th and 19th with times of 6:18.19 and 6:33.37 respectively.
In the 3,200, sophomore Linnea Hanson was 14th in 13:30.31 and fellow sophomore Brooke Erickson placed 16th with a 14:33.44.
Junior Ariana Green took seventh in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.94, fellow junior Rachel Hughes finished 11th in 18.71 and freshman Taylor Pelava placed 16th (21.06). For the 300 hurdles, Hughes took 10th with a time of 55.40, Green finished 14th in 56.76 and Pelava Placed 18th with a 1:01.45.
The girls' 4x100 relay team took eighth with a time of 55.77, the 4x200 finished seventh in 2:01.20, the 4x400 team placed fourth (4:21.16) and in the 4x800 they took fifth with a time of 11:01.29.
Junior Shannon McCullough took 10th in the high jump with a leap of 4-8, freshman Mekedelawet Radiate finished 17th with a 4-2 and Kennedy placed 19th (4-2). Senior Hannah Peterson took 12th in the long jump with a 14-4, while fellow senior Kallista Spurgeon and Hanson were 18th and 19th with jumps of 13-7 and 13-1. For the triple jump, Peterson (28-9), Urban (27-9.50) and Spurgeon (27-5.25) were 19th, 20th and 21st.
Sophomore Carolina Gahtright took fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 8-6. Senior Jessica Davison took third in the discus with a throw of 117-11, fellow senior Megan Tietjen finished 11th with a 86-9 and junior Joella Chamberlain placed 12th (82-11).
In the shot put, Davison took fifth with a 32-10.50, Tietjen finished ninth (31-00) and sophomore Victoria Ellsworth placed 14th with a 29-1.
