Spring and early summer results for Hastings Area Swim Team

The Hastings Area Swim team started their Spring Summer Long Course Season out with remarkable success in their home pool, hosting the HAST Spring TYR IMX PP Invite on April 27-28 at the Hastings Middle School. Fifty-eight HAST swimmers competed at this meet, teaming up to set new times in the CH-1, BB-4, B-12 and C-3 divisions.The swimmer of the meet was Amelia Miller, who earned new C times in the 200-yard freestyle and 200 individual medley. In those two events she dropped a combined 1 minutes, 5 seconds and in the 500 freestyle cut 2:08 off her time.Other notable swimming performances came from Power Point Trophy winners Emma Dehlmow, James Jensen, Ashtyn Stewart, Kendra Kosmoski, Dylan Purrington and Natasha Girgen.

On May 11 HAST took nine swimmers to the RWSC Spring Splash in Red Wing. There they achieved five new C times. Later in the day 31 HAST Swimmers competed at the SHRK IM Tough Challenge for the two-day meet (May 11-12) in Farmington and they set new times in Zone-2, Champ-5, BB-5, B-9 and C-3. The swimmer of the weekend was Marcus Mulvihill. This is Mulvihill's first season swimming with HAST. He swam eight-out-of-eight best times, cutting just over 16 seconds overall, earning new B times in the 50 and 100 freestyle and a new C time in the 100 backstroke. At the IM Tough Swim meet, swimmers were awarded top honors for swimming an accumulative fastest time in four combined events. Winners for HAST were Dehlmow, Sofia Kovalenko, Stewart, Nathan LeMay, Girgen, Charlie Jensen, Kendra Kosmoski, Kira Aarness, Kiya Riley and Philip Jensen.

On May 23 HAST attended the STRM May C/Pre-C Meet where 13 HAST swimmers competed to achieve new times in 1-B and 6-C. The swimmer of the meet was Jacob Barker who swam three-out-of-three best times and earned a new C time in the 50 backstroke. The weekend before school was out the HAST swimmers were challenged at the first outdoor long course swim meet of the season, at the Piranhas Summer Chop on from May 31-June 2. There 51 HAST swimmers teamed up to swim new times in the CH-5, A-4, BB-9, B-11 and C-11 divisions. The swimmer of the meet was Tristan Herbst who swam six-out-of-six best times. This season Tristan has earned six new B Times and four of them were earned in this meet in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle along with the 50 backstroke.

Kovalenko and James Jensen set new ZONE times in the above meets. Setting New CHAMP times were Emelia Berg. Dehlmow, Thomas Foss, James Jensen and Josephine Larson. New A times were swam by Kosmoski, Sam Rhode, Stewart and Caleb Urban.

Setting new BB times were Megan Bump, Jeremy Cory, Oliver Gergen, Isabel Green, Jenna Gutterman, Mari Hall, Charlie Jensen, Tyson Kalinowski, Kosmoski, Afton LeMay and Annika Ries. New B times came from Ethan Anderson, Andi Carlson, Ella Carlson, Cory, Evan Darling, Isabel Green, Samuel Green, Jackson Harre, Tristan Herbst, Josephine Larson, Afton LeMay, Mitchell LeMay, Nathan LeMay, Marcus Mullvihill, Mary Schalk, Taylor Schmaltz, Brandon Schwartz and Garrett Watterson.

New C times were set by Ben Barker, Jacob Barker, Alliah Clark, Zach Crook, Evan Darling, Mason Darling, Jordan Glover, Oscar Green, Samuel Green, George Jensen, Jaren Kihima, Lauren Krause, Lily Meier, Amelia Miller, Marcus Mulvihill, Eloise Prettyman, Cloe Robinson, Russell Schalk and Taylor Schmaltz.
