Seniors John Rupp and Carter Williams have been named as academic All-Americans by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association. The NISCA overseas the All-American selections for swimming, diving and water polo.

Head coach Gerry Rupp said that the criteria to make the academic All-America team athletes is to maintain above a 3.75 GPA from ninth grade through the first semester of their senior year. John Rupp maintained a 4.0 GPA through those seven semesters while Williams had a 3.86.

The press release sent out by the NISCA says that "over 342,294 students are involved in aquatics at the high school level in over 16,432 programs for boys and girls. Approximately two percent of these students are recognized as high school All-Americans."

Rupp and Williams were two of just five seniors on the Hastings Raiders boys' swimming and diving team this past winter. Rupp and fellow senior Jackson Gergen both qualified for the state tournament.
