The Hastings Raiders girls’ tennis team went 3-1 over the past week to improve to 10-5 overall on the season. They played in an invitational last Saturday, Sept. 18, where they earned a big 4-3 win over the Eagan Wildcats, beat Winona 6-1 and were swept 7-0 by Elk River. This past Tuesday, the Raiders swept North St. Paul on the road, 7-0, and were at Mahtomedi Thursday night (results were not yet available). 

Against Eagan, Claire Keller (6-0, 6-1) and Charlotte Kranz (6-3, 6-4) lost at No.1 and No. 2 singles respectively but Brooklyn Keller took No. 3 singles 6-0, 7-6(5) and Ruby Rotty won No. 4 singles 6-2, 7-5. The team of Molly Moran and Reese Keller were victorious at No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-2 and Autumn Winkler/Chloe Konrady took No. 2 doubles 6-4, 6-1. Ellie Haas and Brooke Jelley fell in No. 3 doubles 6-4, 6-2. 

During Saturday’s invitational, Hastings won all four singles matches against the Winona Winhawks. Claire Keller won No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1; Reese Keller was victorious at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1; Winkler took No.3 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Brooklyn Keller won No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, Moran/Kranz won at No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-2; Konrady/Haas fell at No. 2 doubles 7-5, 6-1 and Rotty/Jelley took No. 3 doubles 7-5, 6-1.

The Raiders changed up their lineup a bit in a rough loss to Elk River as Kranz and Moran lost No. 1 and No. 3 singles by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores. Winkler fell at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Jelley dropped No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0. Claire Keller and Konrady lost at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-2; Brooklyn and Reese Keller fell in a close No. 2 doubles match 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 and Ellie Haas and Amber Keller lost No. 3 doubles 6-1, 6-1.

In the sweep of the North St. Paul Polars on Tuesday, Claire Keller did not give up a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles, Winkler took No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3; Rotty won No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-2; and Mikayla Schuster was victorious at No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-4. The team of Moran and Kranz swept No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-0; Haas and Morgan Buck won a tough No. 2 doubles match 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 and Kira Lindstrom and Emily Heinbuch won No. 3 doubles 6-0, 6-1. 

Hastings hosts Simley on Tuesday, Sept. 28; goes to Roseville on Wednesday and hosts Hill-Murray on Thursday to wrap up the regular season. Team sections for Section 3AA are October 4-12 and individual sections are October 18-19.
