The Hastings Raider girls’ swimming and diving team hosted the Farmington Tigers Tuesday night at Hastings Middle School on what was the Raiders’ Parents Night. The Raiders lost a close meet 95-90 to the Tigers and won five out of the 12 events.

Hastings is at South St. Paul on Thursday, Sept. 30, and then hosts North St. Paul on Thursday, Oct. 7.

Winners were freshman Kira Aarness in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 0.10 seconds; freshman Josey Larson took the 100 butterfly in 1:02.48; sophomore Ashtyn Stewart was victorious in the 100 freestyle (55.03); Aarness also won the 500 freestyle in 5:29.04 and the team of Stewart, junior Ava McNamara, Awareness and senior Kendal Jenkins won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:46.64. 

Runners-up were the 200 medley relay team of Kendal Jenkins, McNamara, Larson and senior Ireland Zaruba with a time of 1:54.27; McNamara in the 200 individual medley in 2:15.64 and Kendal Jenkins (26.72) in the 50 freestyle. Seventh-grader Greta Larson scored a 136.85 in the 1 meter dive to take second; seventh-grader Sofia Kovalenko with a time of 1:03.89 in the 100 butterfly and the team of Stewart, Zaruba, Kovalenko and Aarness (1:38.54) in the 200 freestyle relay. Stewart was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.47 and so was McNamara in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.97.

Taking third were freshman Izzy Green in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:06.40; sophomore Lauren Jenkins in the 200 IM in 2:21.88 and seventh-grader Chloe Aarness (134.00) in diving. Then there is Green in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:39.33 and Lauren Jenkins in the 100 backstroke (1:05.47).

The 200 medley relay team of Lauren Jenkins, Kovalenko, sophomore Clara Birken and senior Lydia Lerbs took fourth with a time of 2:05.28; Zaruba finished fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:12.28 and so did seventh-grader Mari Hall in diving with a score of 108.10. Zaruba also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle in 58.33; the 200 freestyle relay team of Lerbs, Birken, Green and Lila Salzman were fourth with a time of 1:53.05 and so was the 400 freestyle relay team of Lauren Jenkins, Green, Salzman and Larson (3:59.90).

Placing fifth were Birken in the 200 IM with a time of 2:35.66; Salzman in the 50 freestyle in 28.10 and Kendal Jenkins in the 100 butterfly (1:04.81). Also finishing fifth were Larson in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.88, Kovalenko in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.57. 

Sixth-place finishers were the 200 medley relay team of Chloe Aarness, senior Sunshyne Lewis, senior Olivia Smiley and junior Emma Carter with a time of 2:22.69; Lerbs in the 50 freestyle in 28.75 and Salzman in the 100 freestyle (1:02.17). Also taking sixth were Chloe Aarness in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:33.82; the 200 freestyle relay team of Carter, Lewis, Smiley and junior Chloe Robinson (2:06.35) and then Birken in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.06. Finally there was the 400 freestyle relay team of Chloe Aarness, Hall, freshman Stella Hilgers and senior Claire Meier who placed sixth with a time of 4:42.73.
