Registration open for spring/summer HTA programs
Registration is now open for several spring/summer Hastings Tennis Association programs as well as some free events coming up. Below are their descriptions and all registrations/information can be found at www.hastingstennis.org.
Tennis season kick-off event: Hosted by HTA Thursday, May 9, from 6-8 p.m. The rain date is May 13 at 6 p.m. Do you play tennis or have you ever thought about playing tennis? If so, this event is for you. There will be food, games and fun for players of all ages and abilities. This is an opportunity to explore opportunities to learn and play tennis in Hastings. This is a free event but please register.
It's all about Doubles: Doubles strategy 101: For adults and seniors, held May 17 6-8 p.m. Have you thought about joining one of Hastings' doubles leagues but feel uncomfortable
playing doubles or do you simply want to improve your doubles strategy? Then this free clinic is for you. Doubles is fun and exciting, but you have to learn team strategy, coordination, and communication. There is no cost. but please register.
Try tennis for free: Open to students in grades 6-12 and adults on Sunday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 22, from 6-8 p.m. HTA is offering a free introduction to tennis. Adults and student players will be on separate courts. Existing HTA players are encouraged to invite a friend or two. If needed, rackets will be provided. There is no cost but please register.
Senior open doubles tennis: Beginning Monday, May 20, and running every Monday until August 12, HTA is offering "Senior Doubles"—open doubles for adults 55 years and older. There is no charge but please bring a new can of tennis balls. "Senior Doubles" will be held at the Roadside courts from 6-8 p.m.. No partner needed and no need to sign up.
Youth tennis: HTA is offering many spring and summer youth tennis opportunities that include both drills and match play. Popular returning programs for 2019 include a Girls Singles League (grades 7-12), Wednesday Night Doubles (grades 5-8), USTA Junior Team Tennis and "Drills and Match Play" for Middle School and High School age players. HTA continues to offer lessons for Middle School and High School age beginners. Whether a beginner or experienced player, HTA has something for everyone.
Adult tennis programs: HTA is offering a variety of spring and summer tennis programs designed for adults and seniors. In addition to the ever-popular Women's and Men's Singles and Doubles leagues, HTA offers beginner lessons, weekly drills and a doubles clinic. New in 2019 will be free "Flash Events" organized by HTA's Adult Tennis Committee. Be sure to check out HTA's Facebook page for more information.
HAST swim lessons
The HAST "I Love to Swim" program provides group and private lessons for children age 3 years-and-up. This progressive program offers five different levels of instructions and utilizes the four Olympic strokes. All Classes are held at the Hastings Middle School pool. Registration for lessons is open and classes start mid-March and April 1.
