The Hastings girls' hockey team opened its regular season against two section opponents this past week. The Raiders hosted Park of Cottage Grove on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Hastings Civic Arena and fell 4-2 in a game that was close until near the very end. Then on Saturday, Hastings traveled to Apple Valley where they lost 6-2 after leading 2-0.

The Raiders opened the scoring in the game against the Wolfpack with a goal from junior Maddie Junker, assisted by sophomore Taylor Larson. Park then tied the game at one apiece to end the first period. The Wolfpack then scored two more goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead before sophomore Jailyn Munson pulled Hastings within one on an unassisted goal. However, Park added an empty-net goal at the end of the game to win 4-2.

Against Apple Valley, Hastings scored two power-play goals in the second half of the first period courtesy of senior Callie McNary (assisted by junior Lexi True and freshman Jaida Hanson) and Hanson (assisted by Larson). However, the Eagles scored two unanswered goals in the second period and four more in the third to win 6-2.

Hastings hosted Woodbury on Tuesday, Nov. 14. They travel to East Ridge on Thursday, Nov. 16, and then Eagan comes calling on Saturday, Nov. 18.
