Hastings sophomore Josiah Trost qualified for the Minnesota State High School League’s state nordic ski meet Tuesday after taking sixth in the Section 1 boys’ pursuit with a total time of 28 minutes, 45.1 seconds. Trost took seventh in classic with a time of 15:03.3 and seventh again in skate (13:41.7). 

The Raider boys seventh out of 12 teams with 293 points, just seven ahead of Lakeville. Eighth-grader Micah Trost took 39th with a combined time of 35:56.3 and right behind him was sophomore Noah Quigley in 40th (36:38.8). Eighth-grader Gabe Peterson placed 51st in 44:08.1.

The team of Aiden Stoltz and Craig Hartman finished ninth out of 10 teams in the team sprint. 

The Hastings girls took 10th out of 12 teams with 253 points. Senior Ellie Tix took 41st with a time of 46:54.7, sophomore Jordyn Doughty finished 44th in 47:52.0 and sophomore Eve Lawson took 46th (47:58.5). Fellow sophomore Hannah Hoff was 49th in 51:49.5.

Molly Caturia and EC Atkins teamed up for the team sprint and finished seventh out of 10 teams with 141 points.

Josiah Trost will compete in the state meet Feb. 16-17 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik.
