Hastings gymnasts have strong start to season

Although it is still early in the year, the Perpetual Motion gymnastics team has already had a strong start to their competition season.

Lara Deshler, an eighth-grader at Hastings Middle School, is a level eight gymnast. At the Classic Rock Invitational, held in Phoenix, Ariz., Lara placed second on balance beam, first on floor with a 9.475 and also placed fourth in the all-around.

Carolina Gathright, a freshman at Hastings High School, is also a level eight gymnast. At the Classic Rock Invitational, Carolina scored a 9.225 on floor, taking fourth, and also scored an 8.2 on bars, placing fifth.

Emma Hagen, a seventh-grader at HMS, is a level nine. At the Winter Challenge Invitational, Emma placed first on vault, and won the all-around with a 35.3. At the Classic Rock Invitational, she placed third on floor with a 9.475.

Anna McCabe, a freshman at HHS, is also a level nine. At the Winter Challenge Invitational, Anna placed first on vault, bars, floor and all-around. At the Classic Rock Invitational, Anna won bars with a 9.65 and placed first in the all-around with a 37.475.

Rose Deshler, a junior at HHS, is a level 10 gymnast. At the Winter Challenge Invitational, Rose won beam with an 8.875. At the Classic Rock Invitational, she placed third on beam with a 9.025 and was fifth in the all-around.

Madeline McCabe, a senior at HHS, is also a level 10. At the Winter Challenge Invitational, Madeline placed third on beam and the all-around. At the Classic Rock Invitational, she placed fourth on beam with a 9.275.
