The Hastings girls' golf team hosted an LPGA Day event on April 27 at Hidden Greens Golf Course along with the Cannon Falls girls' golf team. Head coach Becky Hartung said that they had four LPGA teaching professionals put on a clinic for the two teams.

"These ladies put on a great clinic and the girls learned a lot about the game of golf and future opportunities," Hartung said.

Last week, the Raiders beat North St. Paul on Tuesday by a score of 189 to 286. Juniors Hannah Hubbart and Sam Benson tied for first and were co-medalists, each shooting 46. Senior Shannon O'Connor posted a 47 and eighth-grader Lauren Hubbart shot a 50.

Last Thursday, they competed at the Metro East Conference Mid-Conference Tournament at Keller Golf course. The Raiders tied third-place Mahtomedi with a 399, but lost the tie breaker, which was the fifth score, and so took fourth. Hannah Hubbart shot an 88, O'Connor came in with a 99, Benson had a 103 and eighth-grader Lauren Skov shot a 109.

"When there's a tie, the fifth score is used to break the tie," Hartung said. "One stroke can make a huge difference in how we finish. A missed putt or a miss hit chip are some things we talked about at the end of the match, where could we have taken a stroke or two off to make a difference in the outcome."

Hastings was on the road Tuesday to face Tartan and South St. Paul. They host Cretin-Derham Hall at Hidden Greens on Thursday.
