Hawks, Mudhens hit halfway mark of their seasons
The Hastings Hawks and Miesville Mudhens are both about halfway through their 2019 season with the jam-packed months of July and August ahead. The Hawks sit at 3-6 overall though there are some missing results, while the Mudhens are 7-4 but have lost three straight.
Hastings dropped their first four games of the season, with the first two coming against opponents from across the river in the Ellsworth Hubbers (13-2) and Spring Valley Hawks (5-4). They then fell to the Red Wing Aces (8-1) and the Northfield Knights (14-7) before earning their first win against the Randolph Railcats 3-1 to wrap up May.
So far in June, Hastings has won a second matchup with the Railcats 14-4 and beat the Cannon Falls Bears 3-2. They have lost 9-3 to Baseball and to the Minneapolis Cobras 20-4. The Hawks traveled to Lake City to take on the Serpents on Sunday, June 23, hosted the Hampton Cardinals on Wednesday, June 26, and then they face the Rochester Royals and Miesville during the weekend.
Meanwhile, the Mudhens started their season 6-0 with wins over Cannon Falls (2-0) and Stockmen's Irish (4-2) in May. To start June they beat Hampton (4-0), Baseball 365 (7-4), the Dundas Dukes (5-3) and Lake City (1-0). Since that undefeated start, Miesville is just 1-4 with their lone win a 20-0 drubbing of Randolph. They have lost to St. Louis Park 14-6, Northfield 4-3, the St. Paul Capitals 7-3 and the Rochester Royals 6-1.
Miesville ends June with four straight home games. They hosted the St. Anthony Hogs on Sunday, June 23, and then welcomed the Eagan Bandits to Jack Ruhr Field on Wednesday, June 26. The Elko Express comes to town on Friday and then they play Hastings on Sunday to head into July.
