HYAA 9U Raiders baseball wins East Ridge tournament

The HYAA 9U Raiders baseball team has won one tournament, taken second in another and qualified for two state tournaments so far this season. The Hastings Youth Athletic Association (HYAA) 9U baseball team won the East Ridge 9AA Invitational on Sunday, June 2. The Raiders went 2-1 in pool play with a loss to Mendota Heights (13-6), and wins over Menomonie (14-6) and Eastview (23-2). They then beat East Ridge 10-2 in the semifinals and revenged their Friday loss to Mendota Heights by beating them in the championship game 9-6. The team plays in the Metro Baseball League and have started the season 5-0.

In addition to the East Ridge tournament, the team took second in the Mendota Heights Warrior Classic tournament May 18-19 and earned spots in the Minnesota Baseball Tournament (MBT) State Championship tournament July 19-21 in Rosemount and also in the Gopher State Tournament of Champions July 26-28 in Roseville.
