Jack Ruhr Field saw some major fireworks on the Fourth of July and that's not counting whatever display they might have had that night. The Miesville Mudhens overpowered the Red Wing Aces with three home runs to get the 8-2 win, a revenge game after the Aces handed the Mudhens one of their two losses on Memorial Day.

Matt Van Der Bosch opened up the scoring in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run to give the Mudhens a 2-0 advantage. The next inning, Brian Sprout blasted a three-run home run and in the sixth Reed Collins added a two-run blast himself. The long ball accounted for seven of Miesville's eight runs, the other one courtesy of an RBI single by Deryk Marks.

The first two home runs chased Red Wing's first two pitchers and the Aces were only able to scratch across a run in the fourth and sixth. Shannon Ahern was solid on the mound for the Mudhens, throwing seven innings and giving up just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five. Connor Malcolm threw two innings in relief. Marks, Sprout and Collins all had two hits each for Miesville and led the team in RBI along with Van Der Bosch.

Miesville now boasts an 18-2 overall record and sits atop the Section 1B standings after Northfield dropped a game. They host St. Louis Park on Wednesday, July 11, travel to Austin to take on the Greyhounds on July 13, go to Randolph on July 14 and welcome the Cannon Falls Bears on July 15.
