Hastings cross-country hosts Dewey Minnaert Invitational

The Hastings boys' and girls' cross-country teams hosted the annual Dewey Minnaert Invitational on Sept. 7 at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park. The girls' team finished fifth out of nine teams with 113 points while the boys took seventh out of 12 teams with 174 points.

The Raiders' top runner was freshman Linnea Urban, who took fifth out 70 runners with a time of 20 minutes and 5.36 seconds. The top finisher for the boys was senior David Nogle, who took 17th in 17:20.73. Freshman Avery Daley, who finished 21st in 21:59.65, rounded out Hastings' runners in the top 25.

Senior Griffin Myers finished just outside the top 25 in 27th with a time of 17:47.25. Junior Megan Mattson was one spot behind in 28th with a time of 22:17.38. Junior Eric Howd placed 30th in 17:55.86. The last two runners for the girls were closely grouped behind Mattson. Freshman Linnea Hanson took 32nd in 22:24.68 and right behind her in 35th was fellow freshman Emma Bratvold with a time of 22:57.60.

The Raider boys had three runners place in the 50s. Sophomores Isaac Huntington, Luke Harris and Devon Haraldson took 52nd in 18:41.05, 56th in 18:43.63 and 57th in 18:44.58, respectively. The last runner eligible to score points for Hastings was sophomore Ian Jesme who finished in 71st with a time of 19:22.57.

The Hastings boys also had two run without being scored. Juniors Austin Weeks and Brian Nielsen placed 79th in 19:39.73 and 93rd in 21:24.81.

The Raiders ran at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park again on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and then go to Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester on Thursday, Sept. 14.
