Nordic skiing: Raiders to go without rep at state meet
This year’s state Nordic ski meet will go on without a representative from the Hastings Raiders.
The Section 1 meet was held Tuesday and the top Hastings finisher, Kyle Gudmunson, took 28th overall in 38 minutes and 11 seconds, which wasn’t quite high enough to qualify him for a berth at the state meet.
He was 21st in the Classic with a time of 18:16. He was 31st in the skate with at time of 19:55.
The winner was Patrick Acton of Eagan, who had a combined time of 32:07.
Nick Johnson was the second Hastings skier. He had a combined time of 41:53 and placed 45th.
Also racing were: Trevor Caflisch, 50th, 44:20; Garrett Tuin, 51st, 45:29; Jake Rabaey, 52nd, 46:24; Clayton Johnson, 58th, 53:41; and Graham Johnson, 59th, 53:43.
As a team, the Hastings boys were eighth out of 12 teams.
Eagan won the meet with 372 points. Burnsville was second with 359 and Winona was third witih 357.
Hastings had 230 points.
As a team, the Hastings girls placed eighth out of 12 teams.
Eastview won the meet with 377 points and Burnsville was second with 373.
Hastings had 220 points.
Hannah Peterson, a Hastings freshman, was the top girls skier for the Raiders.
She finished 35th in the pursuit with a combined time of 46:57.
Alexis Edmundson was 46th overall in 50:21.
Emma Bratvold finished 50th in 52:13.
Also racing were: Calli Bernard, 53rd, 53:05; Ari Green, 55th, 55:01; and Linnea Urban, 56th, 55:20.
