Cross country: Hastings competes at Irish Invitational in Rosemount

The Hastings boys and girls cross country teams got their seasons started last week at the Irish Invitational in Rosemount, a meet that attracts some of the top teams in the state.

The best finish was turned in by the boys, who finished 10th out of 23 teams with 350 points. Eden Prairie won the meet and Lakeville North was a close second.

The boys were led by Kyle Gudmunson, who was 25th overall in 10 minutes, 47.2 seconds on the two-mile course.

Griffin Myers was 34th in 10:55.1.

Sam Shepherd took 77th in 11:23.3. Mason Minnick finished 99th in 11:40.0. Nick Sampson took 115th in 11:48.5, Eric Howd placed 119th in 11:52.8 and Nick Johnson was 125th in 11:56.5.


The Hastings girls placed 19th out of 20 teams with 502 points.

Julia Mach led Hastings with a finish of 14:09.5. She was 87th.

Megan Mattson was 89th in 14:24.3. Quinn Myers was 101st in 14:48.7. Ciara Christensen took 108th in 14:57.1 and Alexis Edmundson was 117th in 15:15.9.
