Raptors end Raiders' season, 24-7
Going into this season, Hastings football coach Dana Strain talked about how staying healthy was going to be a key factor for the 2010 version of the Hastings Raiders football team.
He was right.
Just more than 40 HHS students came out for the team and it didn't take long for that number to shrink. On the season's first play from scrimmage, the team's starting running back broke his collarbone.
News just got worse from there.
In all, three players broke their collarbones this season, including starting quarterback Aaron Stoneberg.
Last week, the team's runningback Matt Anderson suffered a concussion.
All that bad news didn't help Hastings much in Tuesday's section tournament matchup against the East Ridge Raptors.
East Ridge took a 21-0 lead into halftime and went on to win 24-7.
Hastings' season ends with a 1-9 record.
The game was played in near hurricane conditions, with 30 mph winds and rain.
