Hastings High School

Hastings High School seniors Brady Zak and Kyra Smallidge have been chosen as the Hastings Rotary Student of the Month for February.

Zak was nominated by Paul Olson and Marissa Welch for being passionate about his Raider athletics and showing leadership.

"The smiles that Brady puts on others' faces throughout the day tell you just how much he is loved in the building," they said.

The two said Zak does a great job showing leadership through his work ethic and determination while playing tennis.

"It is incredibly gratifying to work with Brady on the court, as he is the epitome of when a coach says 'jump,' Brady says 'how high' or maybe 'how far'," they said.

Smallidge was nominated by Kari Jaeger for being a motivated and mature student.

"Kyra has an open-minded personality and cooperative spirit, making her a delight to be around," Jaeger said.

Jaeger said Smallidge has a lot of integrity and leadership that was exemplified through her internship for peer educators and as a Link Crew mentor at the school.
