Paul R. McNamara
Paul R. McNamara
Paul Richard McNamara died at his home in Hastings, MN on August 5, 2018, just three weeks shy of his 92nd birthday. Paul was born in Hastings on August 25, 1926, one of nine children of Gene and Marie McNamara.
Paul is survived by siblings Veronica Wermers, Larry McNamara, Jane Olson, Clayton McNamara, and Sharon Nilan; and by children Karen (Scott Dekart), John (Elizabeth Hastings), Gene, Susan (Luis Santiago), Todd (Cindy Haus), Anne, Brian (Lori Germain), Donna (Paul Monroe), and Jay, and by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Corrine (Rasbeck), daughter Mary, and daughter-in-law Ashley (Closson), parents Gene and Marie (Maher) McNamara, and brothers Leonard, Clem, Jerry, and Thomas.
Paul was stationed in Korea in the Army of Occupation at the end of WWII. He married Corrine in 1950, they had ten children, and he spent his working life at 3M Chemolite.
Paul's life was defined by hard work. He took nothing for granted, and prided himself on being independent. Second to his family, Paul loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He knew the waters and back roads around Hastings like the back of his hand, and loved going for a drive to check his favorite spots throughout the seasons.
He taught his children to work hard, stick together during hard times, and to be good neighbors. Nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, and their children, whose visits he cherished.
Paul's body was donated to the University of Minnesota for medical research. In accordance with his wishes, no service is planned.
