Trump to visit Rochester tonight

ROCHESTER — President Donald Trump will visit Rochester today, Oct. 4, 2018.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center. Tickets are required and do not guarantee entry to the event.

“For Minnesota Republicans, this is a dream come true,” Minnesota Republican Party Chair Jennifer Carnahan said in a news release last month. “We are jumping through the roof with excitement to welcome our great and fearless leader, President Donald J. Trump, back to Minnesota next week.”

Trump visited Duluth in June, his first stop in the state since taking office, to lead a rally for Republican congressional candidate Pete Stauber in the traditionally Democratic 8th District.

That is one of two Minnesota Democratic House seats that Republicans hope to flip this year.

The other is southern Minnesota’s 1st District, where Rochester is the largest city and GOP candidate Jim Hagedorn is in a tight race with DFLer Dan Feehan for the seat being vacated by Rep. Tim Walz, the Democratic candidate for governor.
