Daddy Daughter Dance is April 23
It is time for young daughters and dads to party again as the annual Enchantment Under the Seas Princess Daddy Daughter Dance is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Hastings Middle School. It will be an evening of dancing — DJ music, snacks, dinner (if tickets purchased ahead), princess autographs, “Black Light” fun, games, and special items for sale.
“This has become a rich community event,” said Hastings Community Education Director Mary O’Brien. “It is so much fun.”
Community Education and the Hastings Area YMCA are co-sponsors of the special event and have been since it originated eight years ago.
The dance is for dads and their daughters – ages 3 to 10 is recommended. Formal wear is not required. Last year’s evening with the theme of “Back to the 50s” drew about 150. This year’s theme was also the one from two years ago. The two themes are “flip-flopped,” said O’Brien.
What will this theme offer to the guests?
There will be princesses (Disney-oriented) to visit with and have their pictures taken. Members of the Hastings High School Youth Planning Council will be the princesses. There will also be a few Disney “villain” princesses (not too harsh).
Balloons will be a large part of the decorations, including “Black Light” ones. A bounce house will be available, and other games can be enjoyed as well.
Nick Werner will be the DJ for the evening – he has been at other special evenings too.
Dinner is included in the ticket price if purchased ahead of the day, O’Brien said. The presale tickets are $45 per couple. Each additional little lady is $7 (includes the meal).
Tickets can be purchased at www.HastingsCommunityEducation.com, by calling 651-480-7670, or by stopping in at the Tilden Community Center, 310 River St. The presale purchase deadline is April 15.
Couples can purchase tickets at the door, but the cost is $55 per couple and no dinner is included. Each additional little lady is $7.
New this year is the request for sponsorships from businesses, said O’Brien. The proceeds are being designated for a newly-created Angel Fund for the Early Childhood program, elementary grades, to help meet an emergency fund which cannot be met by another fund or scholarship.
