A 73-year-old man was killed in a bike crash on Oct. 25 after a driver struck him while he was riding on County Road 42 in Rosemount.

The bicyclist has been identified by Rosemount Police as the Rev. Dennis Dempsey, who had served at Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville since July 2021 and previously served 15 years at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield.

Driver Trejean Derrell Curry, 27 of Minneapolis was arrested and booked into the Dakota County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide. He has been released pending further investigation.

The case will be reviewed for potential charges by the Dakota County Attorney’s Office after the investigation is complete.

“Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family, friends and the faith community of Dennis Dempsey for their great loss,” Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena said in a release.
