City hires executive search firm: City Council briefs
City hires executive search firm
Hastings City Council agreed to accept the proposal from The Mercer Group for Executive Search Firm Services to help hire a new city administrator.
Former City Administrator Melanie Mesko Lee resigned in early January.
The Mercer Group was recommended by the council's administrative committee, which is made up of council members Lori Braucks, Trevor Lund and Tina Folch. The city received five proposals, and the committee interviewed three firms during a committee meeting Feb. 28.
The Mercer Group has recently helped with city administrator and manager searches for Forest Lake, South St. Paul and West St. Paul.
The main point of contact on the search for council members and city staff will be Jim Miller, former League of Minnesota Cities executive director and former city administrator for Minnetonka.
"We had a high level of comfortability with him and we are looking forward to working with him," Braucks, who is the committee chair, said. "He has a great reputation and he is very well respected in the community, so those are some of the reasons we chose to work with him and the Mercer Group."
