Deshler named April Rotary Student of the Month
Hastings High School senior Rose Deshler has been selected as the Hastings Rotary Student of the Month for April.
Cindy Oppold and Laura Zabel nominated Deshler.
"Rose has servant-heart, is not afraid to take on challenges and has amazing perseverance to accomplish any goal. As an officer for National Honor Society, she embodies the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service and character which align well with the Rotary core values. She coordinated two bake sales this year, which provide all the funding for the Rotary. Beyond that project, Deshler takes on many other tasks in day-to-day operation with great efficiency and positive attitude! She is also the type of leader who looks to go above and beyond and leads by example. She organized a large group of our members to participate in a Feed My Starving Children event in Woodbury earlier this year. She arranged rides, sign-ups and promoted the evert all on her own. Deshler wants to serve her community and is deeply committed to not only doing what she can to make a difference, but also inspiring others to do the same. Another great example of her excellence and commitment is gymnastics. She is a level 10 gymnast who competes around the country, and balances this high level athletic achievement with her academics and service. She is a great representative of the school and the community."
