Middle-schooler qualifies for geography bee competition
A Hastings Middle School student will get the chance to show off his smarts at a geography bee on March 29.
Seventh-grader Devin Plank qualified for the 2019 National Geographic state GeoBee where he will answer geography-based questions for the chance to qualify for the national competition in May. The competition consists of 100 students that range from fourth to ninth grade.
Plank and other competitors will also compete for scholarship money, cash prize money and other awards.
Plank will compete at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management on March 29. The winner of the competition participates in the national competition in Washington D.C. from May 19-22.
