Photos: St. John the Baptist School celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Originally scheduled for the last week in January, inclement weather postponed the National Catholic Schools Week celebration at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion. Rescheduled for Feb. 11-14, the school celebrated with a variety of activities throughout the week.
Students kicked off the week with Team Day in which apparel from students' favorite teams or school spirit apparel was worn. Grandfriends stopped by in the afternoon on Monday for bingo as well.
On Tuesday, school spirit apparel was worn by students as they made a trip to Skateville Family Rollerskating Center in Burnsville. Wednesday included Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a family picnic in the church basement. In the evening, science was the theme during Family Science Night. Science activities were enjoyed by all and a raptor and handler visited from Carpenter Nature Center.
Wrapping the week up on Thursday, students wore red, white and blue. Students and staff prayed for President Donald Trump and newly elected members of Congress and also made cards for the Veterans Home. Before the day ended, a Valentine's Day party was held for kindergartners through fourth grade.
