Winning streak: Marching band takes first in Marshal
The Hastings Raider Marching Band took first place this past weekend at the Pursuit of Excellence Field Show in Marshall, Minn.
The band also took home the specialty awards of "Best General Effect," "Best Music," Best Visual," "Best Brass Section," "Best Woodwind Section," "Best Batterie Percussion," "Best Concert Percussion," and "Best Color Guard."
Members of the marching band started the day with a marching clinic with nationally known judges before competing with its "Stagecoach" show.
The band previously took first place at its last competition in Rosemount.
If you are looking for a local show, the Raiders Marching Band will be performing "Stagecoach" at the homecoming football game Friday, Sept. 28.
The next competition will be held at Champlin Park High School on Saturday, Oct. 6.
Want to get your seventh- through ninth-grade students involved in band? The Raiders will be hosting a marching clinic at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at Todd Field. There will be a post-show performance at 6 p.m.
