Local businesses raise money for elementary schools
Health Solutions Center raised $2,500 for Hastings elementary schools with their annual Kids Day school supplies fundraiser.
The fourth annual Kids Day was held Aug. 28 and 29, with around 100 people in attendance.
"The weather wasn't on our side, but we had a good turnout," Dr. Scott Millner of Millner Chiropractic said.
The main festival event, held Tuesday, Aug. 28, featured a dunk tank, massages, haircuts Green Mill pizza and more.
Up on the dunk tank were various community members from elementary school principals to Police Chief Bryan Schafer and Fire Chief Mike Schutt. Many leaders from community businesses and other school officials joined in the fun as well. Rep. Tony Jurgens even volunteered himself for the tank.
The fundraising continued on Wednesday with Hauck Chiropractic, Millner Chiropractic, and Hastings Sport and Spine all offering adjustments for a special rate of $25. All of the money made from those appointments went toward the fundraiser.
The money raised through the event will be split between the six elementary schools in Hastings: public schools Kennedy, McAuliffe and Pinecrest; and private schools Pine Harbor Christian Academy, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School and St. John's Elementary.
