The Hastings Police Department received a call of a bear sighting on Tuesday, May 23, near Highway 55 and Maple Streets.
The department is asking residents to be aware of their surroundings, never feed or approach bears, secure food and garbage containers, remove bird feeders and notify neighbors if bear activity is observed.
The Hastings Police Department has notified the Department of Natural Resources and will work with them if there are any additional sightings.
The department's preference is to allow the bear to find its way out of town without injury.

This is obviously the Hamm's Beer Bear.... no worries....
What about the kids that walk home from school? Any concerns?
