Kayaker still missing in St. Croix River

TAYLORS FALLS, Minn. -- Minnesota and Wisconsin continue to search for a St. Croix River kayaker reported missing earlier this week.

The public is asked to keep an eye out for Vue Her, 49, who apparently had gone to Interstate Park in Taylors Falls earlier this week. An unoccupied kayak was spotted north of Rock Island on the St. Croix River about 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to  the Chisago County sheriff’s office.

Deputies found the kayak pulled up on the shore, with a tackle box and keys to a vehicle inside, the sheriff’s office said. Vue Her’s vehicle was located unoccupied at the park. Officials searched the area but there was no sign of Vue Her.

His family had filed a missing person’s report with Oakdale police.

Crews searched the St. Croix River area again all day Thursday by boat, air and on the ground with no results. Officials said Friday morning that the search was ongoing.

He was last seen wearing a brown and grey polo shirt and blue jeans. His black hair was cut short on the side and longer on the top. He is an Asian male, standing five feet tall and weighing about 135 pounds.

While the kayak has been recovered, two fishing poles are missing, one pink and the other green.
