Judges announced winners Bailey Alter and Anna Brown as winners of Hastings Sings 2016 during Rivertown Days at Jaycee Park on July 17.

The amateur vocal competition heard from seven contestants at the finals Sunday afternoon. Contestants included Bailey Alter, Savanna Alvarado, Anna Brown, Sara Mendoza, Maria Ramos, Cheyenne Steinbruckner and Katrina Walt. The finalists were chosen after a preliminary contest on KDWA radio in May and June.

After all the contestants sang, host Kelley Casey welcomed the very first winner of Hastings Sings 2010 to the stage to sing while the judges deliberated.

Hastings sings is a vocal competition for 15- to 25-year-olds who live, work or go to school in Hastings. This year’s competition was sponsored by the Hastings Lions Club, Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce and KDWA Radio.

Hastings Sings winner Bailey Alter and runner-up Anna Brown will both represent the city of Hastings at Minnesota Sings. The state competition will be held in St. Paul on Sept. 25.
