Apple Festival

When: Oct. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center

Carpenter Nature Center’s annual Apple Festival will have cider-making demonstrations, live music and children’s activities.

Live music from Thomas Estrem

When: Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

Where: Hastings Social Tavern

Thomas Estrem performs country, bluegrass, classic, folk and originals songs at Hastings Social Tavern every other Thursday.

Paddle with a Ranger

When: Saturday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.

Where: 17210-17456 Ravenna Trail, Hastings

Cost: $35

Explore the Vermillion River on a guided tour with a ranger from the National Park Service.

Park rangers will point out some areas that are great for wildlife observation, such as bald eagles and river otters as well as showcase the changing fall colors.

Some paddling experience is preferred but canoes, kayaks, paddles and life-jackets will be provided by the National Park Service.
