Local churches offer Ash Wednesday services

Hastings churches are getting ready for the Lenten season with special Ash Wednesday services. Here's a list of upcoming services.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church

The public is invited to join St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 202 Eighth St. W., for its mid-week Lenten services, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 10, as it explores the “Ironies of the Passion.”

Topics to be studied: Feb. 10 (Ash Wednesday: This Man Went Home Justified; Feb. 17: He Had Been Wanting To See Jesus; Feb 24: We Have No King But Caesar!; March 2: Don’t You Fear God?; March 9: It Is Better That One Man Die For The People; March 16: Not During This Festival.

Services are at 7 p.m. Wednesdays with Lenten dinners from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Trier, will hold Ash Wednesday Mass at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10.

St. Mathias Catholic Church

St. Mathias Catholic Church, Hampton, will hold Ash Wednesday Mass at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 10 (with Faith Formation).

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Miesville, will hold Ash Wednesday Mass at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Latin) on Feb. 10.


St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W., will hold Ash Wednesday Mass at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the church. A 1:15 p.m. Mass will be held at the school.

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church

Ash Wednesday services will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 400 Ninth St. W.
