Local children's author awarded by MCA

Local author Diane Davies' "Life in the Neck: New Friends" was named a Gold Award Winner by the Mom's Choice Awards.

"Life in the Neck: New Friends," which was released this past August, is the first in a series that follows the animals who live in the Neck, and is also Davies' first children's book.

To be considered for the award, the book was sent to five evaluators with the MCA. From there, the evaluations were submitted to the MCA Executive Committee, which does the final review and approval.

"We are thrilled to earn the Mom's Choice Awards Honoring Excellence Seal of Approval," Davies said. "We know all the great things the MCA does to connect consumers, educators and caregivers with the best products and services available for families."

"New Friends" tells the story of Delaney the deer, Rocket the rabbit, Cardinal Red the cardinal and Old Coyote as they learn to make friends and cooperate with each other.

The next in the series, "Squirrel Trouble," is set to come out early next year.
