Downtown business Tenacious K's to close this month
Downtown business, Tenacious K's, will close its doors at the end of this month.
"That's business," owner Tony Berens said of the store's closing. "Art doesn't sell the way you want it to."
The local artist gallery, which will officially close Thursday, Jan. 31, opened five years ago and was operated by Berens' wife Korrinne. Korrinne died one year ago.
"It's been a good run. I have met a ton of great people in this store. That's all of the fun," Berens said.
Although the store is closing, Berens plans to open up another in its place. He said plans for the new store aren't set in stone yet, but people should expect to see a fresh space. Berens said that they will spend the next few months cleaning up and giving the store, inside and out, a facelift.
"We have five different options — five different ideas," Berens said. "We will make up our mind and let it be known."
Downtown shoppers can expect the new business to open up sometime this spring, possibly April or May.
Berens has been a downtown business owner for over 40 years, having opened Berens Jewelry in 1975.
