The United Way of Hastings will move its office to a new location in Hastings during the week of Jan. 22.
UWH has been in the former First National Bank building on Second Street West for over 10 years. The existing building changed ownership in 2014. With the expected usage of the building location, to complement the redevelopment of the Hudson Sprayers building across the street, UWH leadership knew that an office move would be forthcoming.
"As we began discussing the needs of a new office space, leadership considered several options such as purchasing an existing building, constructing a new building that would allow for meeting space and rentals by other groups, continuing to lease office space, and sharing space with other nonprofits," UWH Executive Director Mari Mellick said. "We wanted to ensure that decisions were based on what will work best for the UWH's delivery of services and impact on the community, what makes sense for UWH's growth and evolvement, and how to achieve the necessities in a space while keeping leasing costs at a minimum."
UWH had been looking at office space in the downtown area and learned that the Meyer Co. building was being renovated. As UWH discussed the space with the building's new owner, it became clear that the space would be an excellent location. According to Mellick, the location and newly renovated space will allow UWH to better serve the community by improving its efficiencies along with raising the awareness of the work that UWH does and the impact it has in the Hastings area.
The UWH office will be closed the week of Jan. 22 for its office move. Beginning Jan. 29, the UWH will be located at the Meyer Co. building, 113 Second St. E., Suite 102, Hastings. UWH's telephone number will remain the same, 651-438-3337.
