The new Allina Health Hastings Clinic, located at 1880 N. Frontage Road, is slated to open Nov. 6, replacing the First Street Clinic location.
"The new clinic is part of a $63 million investment Allina Health has made in the Hastings community," said Tom Thompson, president of Regina Hospital.
The new clinic is located a mile and a half from Regina Hospital. It will house 36 providers and 140 support staff members, including lab and X-ray technicians, clinical assistants, nurses and business office staff.
The primary care services from the First Street clinic will be relocated to the new facility including family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pediatricians, same-day care providers, occupational health services, eye services, mental health and occupational health.
New to the clinic are integrative medicine services ranging from acupuncture to nutrition consultations through the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. Becky McKuras, clinic manager, said that the addition of those services will create a sort of one-stop shop for a patient's primary care.
"Adding integrative medicine will help us with whole person care and add a different dynamic for patients," McKuras said.
The design of the facility is in tune with the idea of whole person care which includes body, community and spirit; not just physical health. The building design incorporates a healing environment with the colors, there is comfortable seating and there is also local art.
"We're able to tie in local artists and tie in with our whole person relaxation environment," McKuras said.
Kevin Best, family care physician, said that his favorite part about the new clinic is the layout. The new layout allows the nursing staff and providers to be closer, yet still have their own space.
"I think it's going to really enhance communication amongst the staff and ultimately (provide) better, more timely care for patients," he said.

A free, family-friendly community grand opening celebration will be held in the spring. More information will be announced at a later date.
