Minnesota author and conference speaker Frances (Francie) Taylor will be the guest speaker at the sixth annual women’s tea at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Berean Bible Baptist Church. Francie Taylor is a ladies’ conference teacher and author from First Baptist Church of Rosemount. She has been serving the Lord with her life as a teacher since 1992.
Neuman receives Outstanding High School Leadership scholarship Andrew Neuman of Hastings received the Outstanding High School Leadership scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2014-2015 academic year. Neuman is the son of Jeff and Rachelle Neuman.
Brianna Johnson joins Teach for America in Minneapolis by Katrina Styx • Staff writer email@example.com When Hastings High School graduate Brianna Johnson went to college, she wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted to do. She got her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Minnesota in 2012, and although she had considered teaching as a career path, she had decided not to pursue it as a degree. After graduating, she moved to Chicago for six months to work with the Chicago Teaching Fellows, working in special education.

His ancestry is Norwegian, he said, and having family living there makes it a natural destination. In June, Linde was back in Norway with his daughter, but this time he was doing more than just visiting family. Every three years, the Norwegian-American Historical Association holds a seminar in Norway to celebrate Norwegian culture and history.
Samantha Kent is the winner of this year’s Hastings Sings. The competition featured six local women, including Jenna Vieths, Allysa Barchenger, Maria Ramos, Angie Thomas, Miranda Poncelet, and Kent. Poncelet was the runnerup. A crowd of almost 300 watched the final competition held Sunday afternoon at the end of Rivertown Days in Jaycee Park.
Pass awarded Fred and Mary Koch Foundation Scholarship Amanda Pass of Hastings, the daughter of Stefanie and Eric Pass, was among 195 students from the United States and Canada chosen to receive an academic scholarship from the Fred and Mary Koch Foundation for the 2014-15 academic year. Amanda will be attending the University of Minnesota, Morris. Amanda is the dependent of an employee of FHR Pine Bend, LLC. But he enjoyed working with computers and seriously believed that’s where his future was. That was, in fact, his career until he was 30. Then, though, Hennen changed his life and career, entering the seminary and becoming an ordained priest. Now, after nine years as a priest, Hennen has been transferred to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings to become its pastor. He succeeds the Rev.

His appearance is part of the Jazz in the Vineyard series this month and August. Jon Pemberton is a Minneapolis/St. Paul based jazz musician, enjoying an active career as trumpeter, pianist, teacher and composer. He was born in Fergus Falls, where his interest in music was evident at an early age. He began his musical studies with piano lessons at age 6.
