Eldora Marie Stark, age 74, of Hastings, died Jan. 8 at her home. She was born on April 9, 1938, in River Falls, Wis., the daughter of Edor and Martha (Marker) Peterson. She grew up in Ellsworth, Wis., and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1955. Eldora married Jerome F. Stark at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beldenville, Wis., on Sept. 9, 1961. Together they raised two sons, Jerome Jr. and Jerrod. Ellie was an avid fan and huge supporter of her two sons' sports careers. Many hours were spent at ice rinks as well as golf courses.
Ione Louise Kuchenbecker, age 97, of Hastings, Minn., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Regina Assisted Living. Funeral services for Ione will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Joy Lutheran Church, Prescott, Wis. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, Minn. Friends and family are invited to call at the church for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Elaine "Toni" Mae Gergen, age 89, of Prescott, Wis., died Monday, Dec. 10, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn. She was born on March 16, 1923, in River Falls, Wis., to Edward and Verna (Meier) Tronnier. She graduated from River Falls High School. After graduation, she went to work for Smeads Manufacturing in Hastings, where she met her husband, Adam Milton Gergen. They were married on Sept. 6, 1944, and together they had six children. Elaine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prescott.
Timothy "Tim" Foley Brabec, age 66, of Prescott, Wis., died suddenly at his home on Monday, Sept. 24. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Richmond, Wis. Interment is in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott, Wis. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of the Butler-Harmon American Legion Post #80, New Richmond.
Joseph Paul Voss, age 55, of Frederic, Wis., formerly of Prescott, died on Aug. 6 at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. He was born to Harlan C. and Evelyn Marie (Broko) Voss on Jan. 7, 1957, in St. Paul. Joe had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. He loved his job as produce manager for County Market in Hastings. He was very family oriented and cherished the time he had to spend with them. He enjoyed watching sports, hunting, riding motorcycle, and fixing cars and anything small motor.
Scott Harold Lubich, age 51, of Prescott, died Friday, April 13, unexpectedly at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prescott. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation for Scott will be from 4-8p.m. Monday at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Eldon Francis Langer, age 79, of River Falls, formerly of Ellsworth, died Saturday, Jan. 7, at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Born April 21, 1932, in rural Ellsworth, the son of Joseph and Wilhelmina (Raehsler) Langer. Eldon attended the Lost Creek School through the eighth grade. Eldon worked on the family farm east of Ellsworth by Lost Creek. In 1950, Eldon went on to work at Cudahy Meat Packing in Newport, Minn. In 1955, he began work at Durkee Atwood Co. as a factory laborer in Red Wing before retiring in 1990. Married Mary Lou Lantz on Dec.
Wayne D. White, age 85, of Plum City, Wis., formerly of Hastings, Minn., died Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City. Wayne was born on Jan. 31, 1926, on the home farm in Maiden Rock. He was the son of Merton and Esther (Haglund) White. Wayne grew up in the Maiden Rock area, attended the 16th School near Lund, and graduated from Maiden Rock High School. After school, Wayne joined the U.S. Army in 1944 and served stateside. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Wayne married Elaine Shelstad on Nov. 22, 1952.
Sallee Larson (nee Anderson), age 72, of Red Wing, died peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 28, after a year-long battle with cancer. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cross of Christ Church are preferred.
Louis Evans, 64, of Bay City died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. He was born May 25, 1945 to Kenneth and Bonnie Evans. He grew up in Hastings, Minn. He owned and operated Mr. Louie's Hair Design in Rosemount, Minn., and Lakeville and also owned Mr. Upholster. For a short time he lived in Lake City on a hobby farm and began working with Anderson House Tour Groups.
