Mark Allen Brand, age 53, of Prescott, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at his home. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prescott. Burial of cremated remains will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. George Weinhandl Sr., age 81, of Hampton, died June 1, 2010, at Cannon Falls Community Medical Center. George was born Dec. 4, 1928, to Paul and Maria (Weinzettel) Weinhandl in Apetlon, Austria. He left his beloved homeland in 1950 and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, where he married Ernestine Heiss on August 18, 1951, living there for ten years. In 1961, they moved to Minnesota with their three children. George had worked as a meat cutter for Twin City Meat and Westlund Provision, and was retired Local UFCW 789 in St.
Arleen M. Willeke, age 82, passed away May 28, 2010, at Redeemer Residence in Minneapolis, Minn. Arleen was born to Edward and Anna Kuhn on Dec. 17, 1927, in St. Cloud, Minn. She married Anthony Willeke in 1949. Arleen has been a resident of Hastings since 1958 and served as the St. Boniface parish secretary in the 1980s through the early 1990s. Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five older siblings. She is survived by children, Steve (Sharon), Larry (Lynne), and Carol (Tom) Albin; grandchildren, Shane, Briana, Brett and Lucy. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m.
Raymond William Burr, age 77, of Hastings, died Sunday, May 30, 2010. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Sebastian; mother, Helga; sisters, Ronnie and Lucy; brother, John; granddaughter, Veronica, and great-granddaughter, Isabella. He is survived by "His Army" which includes his wife, Beverly; his children, Theresa, Deborah, Michael, Timothy, Kimberly, Mary, Roy Mallette, Walter Mallette and Lester French; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Beatrice A. Scholz, age 92 of Dandridge, Tenn., formerly of Hastings, Minn., passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010. She was born July 15, 1917, in Hastings, the daughter of the late Gustov and Lilly Johnson, and had been a lifelong resident of Hastings before moving to East Tennessee to be near her children about three and half years ago. Beatrice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gerhard Scholz. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hastings and attended the Dandridge First United Methodist Church.
Mathilda "Tillie" Huneke, age 77, of Hastings died May 27, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Tillie was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Wabasha County to Florian and Mary (Mahoney) Reding. She graduated from Villa Maria High School and married James F. Huneke on Feb. 11, 1953, in Bellechester, Minn.
Michael Marcelino Puente, age 27, of Hastings, Minn., formerly of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in Hastings. A celebration of Mike's life will be held from 4-7 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, June 1, at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family. Albin "Jake" Jacobson Jr., age 80, a resident of Siren, died May 19, 2010, in Rochester, Minn. Jake was born on March 14, 1930, in Rochester, to Albin and Dora Jacobson, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Anita Thompson on June 24, 1950, in Rochester. Jake enjoyed being outdoors and taking in the wildlife. He liked watching birds, especially the bald eagles which are abundant in this area. He took time to go fishing, hunting and to play golf whenever he had the chance.
Roger A. Ableidinger, age 65, of Hastings, formerly of Durand, Wis., died Thursday, May 20, 2010. He was born July 5, 1944 in Durand to Lee and Annabell (Schuh) Ableidinger. Roger was employed as an HVAC and had retired from Peine Plumbing and Heating. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Elgene and Myron Ableidinger.
