Bruce Gillard, 87, of Dodge Center, died June 30, 2009, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, Minn. Bruce is survived by his wife, Audrey; sons, Robert (and Kris), Plano, Texas; John (and Gail), Hutchinson, Minn.; James (and Diane), Hastings, Minn.; and David (and Gail), Castle Rock, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; one sister; one granddaughter, Marit; and two sons, Thomas and Richard. The memorial service for Bruce Barton Gillard was held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 N.
Rev. Charles N. Curtis, age 96, of Waupaca, Wis., passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Bethany Home in Waupaca. He was born in Roscoe, S.D., Nov. 9, 1912, a son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Niles) Curtis. He married Esther Graham Sept. 14, 1933. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1999.
Cheri L. Olson age 52, of Hastings, passed away July 4, 2009. She was born in Elmhurst, Ill., to John and Joan Prediger. In 1970, she moved to Wayzata, Minn., where she medaled in swimming and diving and graduated from high school. After attending college, she was an editor for the Sportsman's Guide. Cheri loved her cats, loved to read and she lived for her pride and joy, her grandson, Eric, who was the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Bonnie McCarty.
Edward Wm. Ruhr of Hastings, formerly of Rochester, Inver Grove Heights, Rice Lake, Wis., and Miesville, Minn., died July 1, 2009. He was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Miesville to William and Agnes (Nilan) Ruhr, the third oldest of 11 children. He helped his parents on their farm and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 during WWII. Edward was injured in 1943 in the South Pacific and was returned to the Naval Hospital in Vallejo, Calif., where he married his long-time girlfriend, Mildred (Rosenberger) from Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Waupaca at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6th, 2009, with Reverend Larry G. Gross, officiating. On Friday, June 26, 2009, Luther (Bud) Bailey passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn. Bud was devoted to his family and friends, and a passionate sportsman. The outdoors was his sanctuary, and he spent countless hours on the prairies of Kansas, woods of Missouri, and waters of Bull Schoals Lake. He was born and raised in Joplin, Mio. Most recently, he resided in Hastings, Minnesota. During WWII, he served on Iwo Jima.
Frances M. DeLarbre, age 93, of Hammond, Ind., passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009. She is survived by her son, Dean (Laura) DeLarbre of Minnesota and daughter, Diane Willerman of Hammond; three grandchildren, Kevin (Yvette) DeLarbre, Christine DeLarbre, and David (Michelle) Willerman; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Chelsea, Faith and Sarah. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Stubler and Ann (Al) Faleskin , both of Illinois, and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Kuhar, of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m.
The memorial service for Bruce Barton Gillard will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 Central Avenue North in Dodge Center, MN with Reverend David Fechner officiating.
