Jean Marie Tefft, 64, of Hastings, formerly of Red Wing, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at her residence. She was born July 26, 1945, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Oscar S. and Rowena M. (VonBargen) Finne. She attended school through grade 7 in Red Wing and graduated from Hastings High School. She received a two-year degree in secretarial studies from the Red Wing Vocational Technical School and a two-year degree from a beauty school in St. Paul. She married James Severson in November 1965.
Linda Marie (Moes) Keapproth, beloved daughter, sister and friend, age 57, passed away surrounded by family. Preceded in death by father, Clarence C. Moes. Survived by mother, Madeline Moes (Salzl); brother, Clarence T. "Ted" (Ivy) Moes of California; sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Haas, Kathryn (Keith) Govednik and Laura Moes; many nieces, nephew, and special friend, Jack Olsen. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Anderson Funeral Home, 1401 Arcade St. (Hwy 61), St. Paul, with visitation starting at 1 p.m.
Joseph "Joe" Jensen, age 56, was known for his unending love for his family and friends. Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in his home in Dairyland, Wis. Joe was born in Red Wing, Minn., to Aloyed and Margaret Jensen on August 22, 1953. He and his family moved to Hastings, Minn., where he spent the rest of his childhood. Joe graduated from Hastings High School in 1971, where he was elected class president by his classmates.
Donald Louis Kusilek, age 64, died suddenly April 3, 2010, at his home in Hastings, Minn. He was born January 15, 1946, to Mabel Filkins and H. "Heavy" Van Shlyke in Hastings. Donald was a graduate of Hastings High School and served in the United States Army as a cook. He was employed at Armor's as a meat cutter and later owned a bar on Vermillion Street in Hastings for a short time. He was a member of the American Legion Club and Eagles Club. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Louis and Theresa Filkins; father, George Kusilek; mother, Mabel (Filkins) Kusilek.
Betty J. White, age 71, of Hastings died April 1, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Betty was born August 30, 1938 in Whitehall, Wis., to Alex and Lucy (Halama) Blaha and attended Whitehall schools.
William J. Horsch William J. Horsch, age 79, of Hastings, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Regina Assisted Living. William was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Hastings to George and Mathilda (Holzemer) Horsch. He was united in marriage to Alberta (Weber) on May 16, 1953 in Miesville. William was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School. He worked at the Koch Refinery until his retirement in 1995. William also served as past commander for the American Legion Post #47.
Beth M. Zentner, age 82, of Baldwin, Wis., mother of Pat (fiancé Dave) Robelia of Hastings, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the Ellsworth Care Center. To honor her wishes, a private service for Beth M. Zentner will be held at her daughter Mary's home at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family of Beth M. Gretl Kosec, 72, Red Wing, died peacefully Friday, March 26, surrounded by her family. Gretl was born August 30, 1937, in Illertissen, Germany, the daughter of Franz and Anna (Bosl) Wiesbauer. She spent her childhood traveling through the Bavarian Alps while her father, an artist, painted the picturesque scenes. Gretl was very proud of her German heritage and enjoyed sharing those traditions with her family.
