Richard "Dick" Murphy, age 66, died peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side at his home in Diamond Bluff on Dec. 30, 2009, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 8, 1943 in Red Wing, Minn., to C.W. (Dick) and Florence (Huppert) Murphy. He attended parochial school at St. Mary's Big River until 8th grade. Dick then attended Prescott High School, graduating in 1961. He married Sheila Frazier Sept. 22, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing.
Bob Frahm, age 76, of Ocala, Fla., and Milaca, Minn., (formerly of Hastings, Minn.), beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec.

Lizabeth "Betty" (Schaps) Gallagher, age 81, of Hastings, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at the Regina Nursing Home. She was preceded by her husband James on Nov. 22, 2009. She is survived by seven children, 17 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Robert Altier, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Regina Chapel, Hastings with visitation 1 hour prior to service. A private interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, will be held.
Brandon Thomas Seeger, age 29, of St. Paul, died Dec. 23, 2009, at his home. Brandon was born March 31, 1980, to Jeff and Phyllis (Zarembinski) Seeger. He graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in 1998. In high school, Brandon was active in wrestling and served as captain of the team. Brandon had a great love for the martial art of jujutsu and UFC. He received his black belt in jujutsu. Brandon also loved music; he enjoyed listening to many bands and was the drummer for the band 4Ever in high school.
William G. Keichler Sr., age 75, of Hastings, died Dec. 24, 2009, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. William was born June 19, 1934, in Prescott, Wis., to Lloyd and Myrtle (Cotter) Keichler. He married Marian (Kinneman) on April 28, 1956, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prescott and was employed as a plumber. William loved fishing and going up north. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marian. William is survived by his children, Kimberlee (Vern) Gelhar of Hastings, Kelly (Craig) Nell of Isle, Kathryn (Mike) Kelley of Hastings and William Jr.
Arlene E. Schutz, age 73, of Hastings, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, following a short illness. Arlene was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Woodville, Wis., to Jacob and Edna (Rodewald) Reinhardt. She married Raymond Schutz on Feb.
Minnie Louise (Mueller) Pykoski, born July 27, 1923, died on December 21, 2009. Minnie was born and raised on Grey Cloud Island and was the oldest child of Jacob and Estella Mueller. Minnie married Lloyd Pykoski on April 14, 1942. Minnie and her husband of 67 years were longtime residents of Denmark Township of Hastings where they crop farmed and dairy farmed. Minnie worked alongside Lloyd in all the farming, milking cows, working in the fields doing all the cultivating and combining, and even doing custom combining for local farmers.
Gailon C. Roen, 69, of Hastings, Minn., died Dec. 21, 2009. Gailon was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Rice Lake, Wis., to Alvin and Myrtle Roen (Holmstrom). He served as a corpsman in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and worked in the field of healthcare for 37 years. Gailon retired from Boynton Health Service at the University of Minnesota in 2004. Gailon is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy (Larson); sons, Todd (wife Christi) and Nathan (wife Rebecca); daughter Jill; grandsons, Max and Sam; and brother, Arvid (wife Norma).
Lucille L. Peterson, an avid card player, age 87, of Hastings, passed away Dec. 22, 2009, at Regina Nursing Home. Lucille was born Dec. 20, 1922, to John and Agnes Radke in Hastings. She was preceded in death by husbands, Norbert Haas and Harold Peterson; sister, Hazel Dorniden; and brother, Raymond Radke.
