Ardelle A. Dohmen, an avid gardener, age 76, of Hastings, passed away June 18, 2010. Ardelle was born Jan. 15, 1934, to Casey and Amanda Nappin at Camp Douglas, Wis. She married Gerald Dohmen on Nov. 7, 1959, at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville. Together they celebrated their 50th anniversary last November. Ardelle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Jerome Francis Judge, age 85, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday, June 16, at his residence. Jerome was born on April 1, 1925, in Cannon Falls, the son of Francis J. and Margaret A. (Farrell) Judge. He graduated from the Cannon Falls High School in 1943. He served with the Merchant Marines from 1943 until 1951. He was then drafted in to the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on March 8, 1953. Jerome married Marguerite J. Swenson on Oct. 4, 1957, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goodhue.
Richard T. Mortensen, age 84, of Hastings, loving husband, father, grandfather, went home to the Lord on June 14, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Richard was born Nov. 2, 1925, in St. Paul to Torvald and Jennie (Green) Mortensen. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as an Army sergeant. Richard married Corolyn Nelson on August 10, 1967, in Brainerd, and was employed as the engineering auditor for St. Paul Fire and Marine. Following his retirement at age 59, he worked at Ron Becker's Automotive. His memberships included the St.
Robert E. Beasley, age 47, of Hastings, died suddenly at home June 13, 2010. He was born June 17, 1962, in St. Paul to Albert and Phyllis Beasley. He married Lois Chylik on August 25, 1984, at All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove.
Carol A. Johnson, age 68, of Hastings, passed peacefully on June 8, 2010, surrounded by her loving family Carol was born Nov. 4, 1941, in Glencoe to Alfred and Helen (Fiala) Tupa. She was a graduate of Glencoe High School and Mankato State University. She married Charles D. Johnson on July 10, 1965, in Glencoe. Along with her husband, Carol was co-owner of Whistling Well Farm in Denmark Township; an active member of St.
Rita S. Bauer, age 69, of Hastings, died June 9, 2010, following a long-term illness. Rita was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Douglas Township, to Eugene and Susan (Hurber) Feidt. She was a 1958 graduate of Hastings High School and married Loren Bauer on Sept.
Sharon Ann Hudson, nee Hagen, born March 4, 1943n in Hastings, Minn., and passed away June 9, 2010, in Stillwater, Minn. She liked to garden and paint as well as doing her woodworking. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hudson; son, Lawrence Hudson; parents, Edwin and Ruth Hagen. Theodore "Ted" Bohn, age 48, of Rosemount, died June 7, 2010. Ted was born in Hastings on August 23, 1961, to Theodore and Carol (Ehmke) Bohn. He graduated from Rosemount High School in 1979 and worked as a farmer. He married Barb Gallagher in 1998.
Sophia H. "Bobby" Elling, 92, of Norwood, Minn., passed away on June 6, 2010, after suffering a stroke. She was the mother of Hastings City Council member Danna Elling Schultz, mother-in-law to Doug Schultz and grandmother of Libby and Abby Schultz. Bobby, as she was known to all her friends, was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Hamburg, Minn., to Herman and Maria Sophia (Harms) Mueller. Bobby graduated from Central High School (Norwood-Young America) in 1937. On July 7, 1940, she married Clement Elling.
Bette Jane Radke Knoll was born in Bayport, Minn., on Jan. 25, 1927, to William and Ella Radke. She graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1940 with honors. After graduating, she attended an art school and music school for two years. She attended Vauro Music & Dancing for two years in South St. Paul (where her parents lived for 30 years). She joined the Musician Union soon after and played and sang in many shows at that time, as well as, many nightclubs in the Metro area. She wanted to play some other instruments, so she chose to play saxophone, clarinet and banjo.
