Brian James Hurlburt, age 45, passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2010, at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, Fallon, Nev. He was born Dec. 7, 1964, in St. Paul, Minn., to Glenn and Jean (Brunette) Hurlburt and he had lived in Fallon since 2001. Brian was a retired chief from the U.S. Navy, serving 23 years. He was an aviation mechanic working at NAS Fallon. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Gary L. Cran, a tractor enthusiast, age 69, of Hastings, passed away August 22, 2010, at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Gary was born in Hastings on June 17, 1941, to Rolland and Verna Cran. He married Jeannette Schwanz at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Paul on Sept. 19, 1970. He had a love of tractors that started with a toy tractor collection and ended with a collection of real tractors.
Marjorie Ann Forbes of Elk River, Minn., died Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Parkview Care Center, Buffalo, Minn. Joseph E. Decker, age 87, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Hastings, Minn., died August 18, 2010, at the Minneapolis Minnesota Veterans Home. Joseph was born Feb. 22, 1923, to John and Kate (Pullman) Decker in Hitchcock, Spink County, S.D. He had served in the U.S.
Edward Vincent Marek Jr., age 71, of River Falls, died Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Gathering at Boutwell's Landing, Oak Park Heights, Minn. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, River Falls, Wis. Fr. Gerald Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. June Eleanor Arneson, 87, of Bemidji, formerly of Hastings, died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Trillium Care Facility in Bemidji. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 23, at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Alan Johnson officiating. There will be a visitation from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 22, at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Ft.
Florence S. O'Connor, age 90, of Hastings, danced her last polka August 19, 2010, at her home in Hastings. She was born in New Trier on Oct. 5, 1919, to Louis and Rose (Gerster) Giefer. She married Thomas J. O'Connor on Nov. 20, 1941, at St. Boniface Church in Hastings. She was active with Guardian Angels parish, Regina Auxillary, Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Jeannie M. Cupp, an avid gardener and reader, age 61, of Hastings, passed away August 17, 2010, at Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings. She was born in St. Paul on Dec. 29, 1948, to Eugene and Evelyn Wilson. Jeannie was preceded in death by husband, Russell; father, Eugene. She is survived by her children, Russell (Jean) Cupp of Farmington, Tracy Hultman of Hastings; step-son, Randall (Lisa) Cupp; grandchildren, Leah and Ashlynn; mother, Evelyn Wilson; sisters, Joyce (Dave) Pechacek, Janice (Ralph) Zaccardi. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
Margaret M. Brown, age 86, of Prescott, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, following being struck by a vehicle while crossing a Prescott, Wis., street. Margaret Mae Brown was born May 2, 1924, to Arnold and Martha Otto in Menomonie, Wis. She grew up on a farm in Menomonie and graduated high school in 1942. She married Harvey Chester Brown Nov. 23, 1946, and moved to their home in Prescott in 1972. She was first employed with National Presto Cooker in Menomonie. One of her favorite jobs was working at the pet store in Hastings. She loved all of her animals!
Ida B. Fox, age 93 and 10 months, of Hastings, died Monday, August 16, 2010 in St. Paul. Ida was born to Carl and Mary (Saterlund) Graff on Oct. 13, 1916, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She coordinated drivers for Meals on Wheels and was very active at First Baptist Church, where she was known as a prayer warrior. Ida was a homemaker and also worked for a Hastings shoe retailer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sheldon, on Oct.
