James was born Dec. 4, 1925, in St. Cloud, Minn., to John Francis and Una (Baldwin) Gallagher. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from St. John's University in Collegeville, M.B.A. from Indiana University. James retired from the Postal Data Center at Ft. Snelling and was formerly head of the computer science department at Purdue North Central University. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; and grandson, Patrick. James was the devoted husband of Lizabeth (Schaps) of Hastings; loving father of Nancy Gallagher of New York, Daniel (Gemma) of Virginia, C.
Robert J. Waller Robert J. Waller, age 61, of Prescott, died unexpectedly Nov. 25, 2009, at Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Survived by wife Beverly (Tri) Waller; four sons, Corey (Jennifer), Joseph, Leonard, and Matthew; daughter, Tara Waller; mother, Irene Waller; two grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Roth and Kathleen Hulstedt; also nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl, will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 1, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings followed by interment at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Prescott.
Lloyd Joseph Pykoski, born Feb. 14, 1923, died on Nov. 18, 2009. Lloyd was a longtime resident of Denmark Township in Hastings. Lloyd was born to Benedict and Mary Pykoski. He grew up in the St. Paul Park/Grey Cloud Island area. Lloyd married Minnie Louise Mueller on April 14, 1942. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Denmark Township where they crop farmed and had a dairy farm. Lloyd served with the Minnesota Defense Force during WWII. He worked at Cudhay's Packing and later for various trucking companies as a Teamster member.
Jerome "Turk" Seidl passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in Hammond, Wis. Turk was born in St. Paul on July 27, 1929, to John and Anna Seidl. He was a member of the Army and served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Willard, John, and Norman Seidl.
Susan K. (Greening) Dugas, age 51, of Cold Spring, Minn., died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring following a short illness. Susan was born Sept. 13, 1958, in Minneapolis to Jack and Vivian (Elpert) Greening of Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents. Susan is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Nathaniel) Gaunt, D.C.; grandchildren, Isaiah and Miriam of Kearney, Neb.; former husband, Dennis Klein of St.
Othmar L. Fox, age 85, of Miesville, died Aug. 26, 2009, at Fairview Medical Center, Red Wing. Othmar was born April 1, 1924, in Miesville, to Albert and Anna (Schaffer) Fox. He married Betty Jensen July 31, 1946, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. Othmar farmed in the Miesville area his entire life. He was an excellent cabinet maker and woodworker, and loved to hunt and fish. He helped start the Miesville Mudhens baseball team, and also pitched for them.
Thomas P. Henry, age 75, of Annandale died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Memorials are preferred to the Annandale Area Foodshelf. Thomas Peter Henry was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Hastings, to Earl and Katherine (Sieben) Henry. He graduated from Hastings High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Donald C. Krippner, age 72, of Hastings, died Oct. 17, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. He was born July 5, 1937, in Claremont, Minn., to Alfred and Hazel (Drews) Krippner. Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps and married Phyllis Gilman on May 21, 1961, in Mankato, Minn. He was a 22 year employee of the Dakota County Sheriff's Department. His family and friends were very important to him; he loved eagles and spending time on his computer. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle K. Egland, age 80, of Hastings, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at the Regina Medical Center. Lyle was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Albert Lea to Orrin and Thelma (Gilje) Egland, and was raised by his grandparents, Christian "Christ" and Karina Gilje, growing up near Cannon Falls. He was a 1947 graduate of Northfield High School, and attended electrician school. Lyle married Helen Thorson on August 7, 1954, in Northfield, and was employed by Ford Motor Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1991.
Evelyn Claire Huppert, "Grandma Evie," age 91, of Prescott, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. She was born March 24, 1918, in Maiden Rock, Wis., daughter of Walter and Ethel (Morrison) Arnold. Evelyn married Ben Huppert in May of 1938 at St. Mary's (Big River) Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1976. Evelyn was a long time employee of Smead Mfg Company in Hastings. She was known for her gardening skills and for cooking fabulous foods for her loved ones.
