John Francis "Jack" Judge, age 89, of Hastings, died Jan. 14, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. John was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Marshan Township to John and Clare (Steffen) Judge and attended Guardian Angels schools. He served as sergeant first class in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1962 after a 20 year career. John later went on to work and retire from CF Industries.
Charles Allen "Chuck" Durdahl, 74, Cannon Falls, died Jan. 13, 2010, at his home. He was retired from Fox Oil and Searle Grain/Ag Partners. He was an active member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church and the VFW Nelson Scofield Post 4452. Survivors include his wife, Ardis; four children; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings. Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. The Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls, was in charge of the arrangements.
Per her request, there will be no funeral services for 66-year Bishop, Calif., resident Merveen Kay Rogers. Born on June 29, 1943, in Reno, Nev., Merveen died at the Bishop Care Center on Jan. 4, 2010. She was 66. Merveen is survived by her husband, Ray Rogers of Bishop; mother, Violet C. Vernon of Bishop; son, James E. Rogers and wife Lisa of Hastings; daughter, Laurel E. Pyeatt and husband Tryon of Oxnard, Calif.; and grandchildren, Logan J. Rogers of Hastings and Cole D. Pyeatt of Oxnard.
Diane Dick, age 48, of Hastings, passed away Jan. 11, 2010, at her home. Diane was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Dick; grandmother, Nana Morin; uncle, Dick Morin; nephew, Brad Beil. She is survived by her life partner, Melody Overmeyer; mother, Phyllis Dick; sister, Kathy Farrell; cousin, Bobby Beil; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott. Wise Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald (Gerry) G. Kruse, Aug. 19, 1939 - Nov. 21, 2009. Gerald (Gerry) G. Kruse, age 70, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Courtyard Health Care Center in Davis, Calif. He was born in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. He lived in Dixon for more than 40 years after serving a career in the U.S. Navy submarine service. Gerry is survived by his wife, Josie; his sons, John Kruse and Philip Kruse; grandson, Richard; sisters, Eleanore Thurmes, Dorothy Fox, Mary Jane (Tom) Bennet; brothers, Jim (Margo) Kruse, Bob (Mary Lou) Kruse; lots of nieces, nephews and friends.
Leander Reinardy, age 69, of Hastings, died Jan. 10, 2010, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Leander was born Feb. 27, 1940, in New Trier to Mathias and Magdalene (Beissel) Reinardy. He served in the Army, and worked as a forklift operator at Con Agra. Leander enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold.
Judith A. Burson, age 69, of Hastings, died Jan. 9, 2010, at her home. Judith was born Nov. 22, 1940, in St. Paul, Minn., to George and Harriet (Ronneng) Krech.
Neva A. Percy, age 84, of Hastings, passed away Jan. 9, 2010, at the Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo. She was born Dec. 27, 1925, to Emil and Ethel (Greer) Starz in Zumbro Falls, Minn. She married Harold Percy in Zumbro Falls on June 25, 1948. Neva was a teacher at Pine Crest Elementary School in Hastings, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed playing the organ, doing her puzzle books, and her time spent at the Senior Center; but most of all, she loved her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Alton Percy.
Laura Mae "Tudy" Green, of Hastings, Minn., formerly of Wesley, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Regina Care Center in Hastings following a lengthy illness. Laura was born May 3, 1924, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to H. Sidney and Bertha C. (Davis) Lundgren. She grew up in and attended school in Crystal Lake, Iowa. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and was a basketball player at her school, the team's high scorer on the state championship team. She was an avid card player, an excellent seamstress, and she loved poetry, and was active in local 4H groups.
John E. Sauter, age 89, of Cannon Falls, died at his home on Friday afternoon, Jan. 8. John was born on Nov. 14, 1920, in Garden Grove, Iowa, the son of Earl and Blanche (Cartwright) Sauter. He was raised in rural Iowa and attended country school near Alta, Iowa. In 1944, he went to serve with the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. John married Ruby Goodvin of rural Kenyon on Sept.
