Thomas P. Henry, age 75, of Annandale died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Memorials are preferred to the Annandale Area Foodshelf. Thomas Peter Henry was born Aug. 23, 1934, in Hastings, to Earl and Katherine (Sieben) Henry. He graduated from Hastings High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Donald C. Krippner, age 72, of Hastings, died Oct. 17, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. He was born July 5, 1937, in Claremont, Minn., to Alfred and Hazel (Drews) Krippner. Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps and married Phyllis Gilman on May 21, 1961, in Mankato, Minn. He was a 22 year employee of the Dakota County Sheriff's Department. His family and friends were very important to him; he loved eagles and spending time on his computer. Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
Lyle K. Egland, age 80, of Hastings, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at the Regina Medical Center. Lyle was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Albert Lea to Orrin and Thelma (Gilje) Egland, and was raised by his grandparents, Christian "Christ" and Karina Gilje, growing up near Cannon Falls. He was a 1947 graduate of Northfield High School, and attended electrician school. Lyle married Helen Thorson on August 7, 1954, in Northfield, and was employed by Ford Motor Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1991.
Evelyn Claire Huppert, "Grandma Evie," age 91, of Prescott, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. She was born March 24, 1918, in Maiden Rock, Wis., daughter of Walter and Ethel (Morrison) Arnold. Evelyn married Ben Huppert in May of 1938 at St. Mary's (Big River) Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1976. Evelyn was a long time employee of Smead Mfg Company in Hastings. She was known for her gardening skills and for cooking fabulous foods for her loved ones.
Linda Keeran, age 55, of Hastings, died at home Oct. 12, 2009. Linda was born Feb. 6, 1954, to Clarence and Leona Balitz. She married Steve Keeran July 10, 1973. She is preceded in death by her mother, Leona; a son, Corey; and a brother, Jerry. She is survived by husband, Steve; daughter, Lisa (Russell) Rohloff; father, Clarence Balitz; grandchildren, Kalli and Cory; sisters Lelani (Bernie) Marek, and Jane (Jim) Maher; and brother, Art (Madelyn) Balitz. The funeral service, with Pastor Paris Pasch officiating, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Christ's Family Church, 518 E.
Florence (Hiniker) Hughes of the Regina Retirement community passed away peacefully Sept. 27, 2009. Born in Hastings on Valentine's Day, 1916, she was the youngest of five children and, by her siblings' accounts, the most spoiled. She was active physically, and something of a tomboy. Her family home on the corner of Sixth and Pine with its tennis court, gardens, gymnastic apparatus, orchard and barn provided plenty of opportunities for outside activity. The Hinikers also enjoyed a summer home they built on the shore of Lake Little Hanging Horn. After attending St.
Thomas E. Sieben, age 53, of Hastings, passed away suddenly Sept. 23, 2009, at his home. Tom was born Oct. 30, 1955, in Red Wing, Minn., to Norbert and Helen Sieben. He married Joan Illa May 25, 2006, in Danbury, Wis. Tom was the owner of Heritage Floral in Hastings. He loved camping and four wheeling. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; sister-in-law, Dora; and father-in-law, Francis Illa.
Charles William Bergevin Jr., Kimberling City, Mo., son of Charles and Grace (Hansen) Bergevin, was born June 21, 1941, in Red Wing, Minn., and departed this life Nov. 5, 2009, in his home, at the age of 68. Charlie was united in marriage to Renee Weiner on May 17, 2006, and he had lived in the Kimberling City area the past six years coming from Minnesota. Before retiring, he worked at St. Thomas University as a union electrician supervisor. Charlie was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a U. S. Navy veteran.
Sister Roberta Rother, 93, born and raised in Hampton, passed away Nov. 4, 2009. Her funeral services were held at Good Counsel Mother House in Mankato, Minn., on Nov. 9, 2009. Sister served as a Notre Dame nun for 71 years. Among her dedicated years she was a teacher and librarian. Over the past 15 years, her joy was making cards. She spent hours growing flowers, pressing them, and incorporating them into birthday, anniversary, thank you, and other special occasion cards. Those who received her cards appreciated her exceptional talent.
Leonard G. Tri, age 70, of Hastings, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness. Leonard was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Red Wing, Minn., to George and Mildred (Jackson) Tri. He was a graduate of Monroe High School in St. Paul in 1956. Leonard entered the U.S. Navy in October of 1958. Following his discharge he returned to work at 3M Company in production. He retired in 1999. He was married to Mary Reis on Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Michael's Church in West St. Paul.
