George F. Hayek, age 78, of Hastings, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 5, 2010. George was born Jan. 1, 1932, in St. Paul to Frank and Leona Stadler. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandsons, Erin and Michael. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie; children, Michele (Lincoln) Starkey, Michael Hayek, Melissa (Tim) Ozorio, Matthew (Lynn) Hayek, and Monica "Holly" Hayek.
Rodney W. Johnson, age 84, of Hastings, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Rodney was born June 14, 1925, in Pepin, Wis., the son of David and Emma Johnson. He grew up in Pepin and attended Pepin High School.
Ryanne (Fay) Bieraugel, age 60, of Hastings, died March 7, 2010, at the Regina Medical Center. Ryanne was born Feb. 18, 1950, in Winnipeg, Canada, to George and Mary (Burns) Fay. She married Thomas Bieraugel on Dec.
Michelle "Mickey" (nee Stuhr) DeWall, age 58, of South St. Paul, passed away March 3, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul. She was born Feb. 10, 1952, to Harry and Betty Lou Stuhr in Minneapolis. She enjoyed the people at and spending time at the Eagle's Club in Hastings. Mickey is preceded in death by her husband, Lynel, and her parents.
VonCeil G. Wiech, 88, of Red Wing, died March 4, 2010, at her home. Born Oct. 31, 1921, in Chatfield, Minn., she married Donald J. Wiech on July 26, 1941. She is survived by devoted husband of 68 years, Donald; also survived by daughters, Vicky (Dan) Bottema of Clearwater, Minn., and Marlis (Dennis) Whitmore of Red Wing; sons, Dennis (Kathy) Wiech of Hastings and Kevin (Betty) Wiech of Hudson, Wis.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Gary Wiech, and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Wiech. Memorial service will be 2 p.m.
David A. Glazier, age 70, of Welch, died March 1, 2010, at his home after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. David was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Batavia, N.Y., to C. Marion and Esther (Plowe) Glazier. He was united in marriage to Judy Bauch on June 24, 1961, in South St. Paul. He taught and coached track and football at South St. Paul High School for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents.
James Bernard Bauer, age 66, of Elysian, Minn., formerly of Hastings, died peacefully at his home on Feb. 25, 2010. Jim was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Hastings to Henry and Juanita (Mamer) Bauer. He was a 1962 graduate of Hastings High School and had served in the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Bauer, and stepfather, Herbert Bauer.
Myron "Bud" Lavern Frick, 95, of Red Wing passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, at his residence at Potter Ridge. Bud was born April 2, 1914, in Red Wing, to Lloyd and Lillian (Munson) Frick. He graduated from Red Wing High School, where he was on the 1933 State Championship team. He married Florence "Midge" Wiberg on May 28, 1939, at Svea Lutheran Church. Bud held various jobs including owning Frick's Thrift Store, working as an accountant at S.B. Foot Tanning Co., and at the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis.
Francis Lyle Kreig, Korean War veteran, born April 13, 1931, died Feb. 7, 2010. Passed away in Mathis, Texas. Preceded in death by father, mother, and brother. Survived by his children and grandchildren; brother James Kreig; sister Gen Hamman (Ron); many nieces and nephews. Service 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at River of Life Church, 8th and Vermillion. Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm at County Point Restaurant. Private interment.
Joseph J. DeGidio, age 76, of Hastings, passed away at his home in Hastings on Feb. 24, 2010. He was born to John and Mary DeGidio on May 17, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minn. On August 16, 1958, he married Virginia Meyers in Mason City, Iowa. Joseph loved golfing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as six brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny"; son, Todd DeGidio (Dana Oxley); daughter, Jodi (Monty) Hoffstrom; grandchildren, Christopher and Haley; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
