Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph, for Gloria A. Linneman, age 83, of Hastings, who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Reverend Joseph Feders, OSB, will officiate. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings with parish prayer at 4 p.m. and after 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Robert Q. Mattila, age 83, of Hastings, passed away with his children by his side on Nov. 3, 2010, at his residence. Robert was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Sebeka, Minn., to William and Esther (Hepola) Mattila. He served in the U.S. Navy post-WWII and married Ellen Luoma on Sep. 12, 1947, in Sebeka.
Evelyn died Nov. 4, 2010, surrounded in the love of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edwin Buehring; her sisters, Agnes Jasna and Patricia Pierik; and her husband, Russell Pangerl Sr., who died in a farming accident February 1964. Born on Sept. 13, 1925, in Rush City, Minn., to Henry and Marie Buehring, she was the youngest of four children. She and Russell eloped Feb. 14, 1949. Four children blessed their union: Russell Jr., Susann, Linda, and Debra.
Betty Bailey, of Hastings, passed away Nov. 1, 2010, at the age of 82, after courageously facing down serious illness over the past five years. Betty grew up in southwest Missouri and still has many friends and family members there. She was swept off her feet by the dashing Luther (Bud) Bailey after being introduced to him by her sister Laverne and Bud's brother Bob. They married in March 1947 and had four children: Michael (Sheila) Bailey of Peculiar, Mo., Kathleen (James) Carlson of Eagan, Minn., Karen (Ken) Harrington of Hastings, and Linda Bailey of Auburn, Wash.
Harold "Hal" Kuehn, WWII Veteran, June 12, 1921 - Oct. 30, 2010. Preceded in death by wife, Jean, on May 9, 1993. Survived by stepson, Dennis Johnson; step-grandsons, Dennis, Marty and Chris; sister-in-law, Bernice Kuehn; many nieces and nephews. Former employee of Keebler Company for 25 years and was a member of Moose Lodge #963 for 15 years. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Hazel Park Congregational United Church of Christ, 1831 Minnehaha Ave. E., St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior. Robert K. Greenlee, age 76, of Vermillion, died Nov. 1, 2010, at his home. Robert was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Pine City, Minn., to Jesse and Lillian (Westrom) Greenlee. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army and later married Mary Loritz on May 11, 1957, in S. St. Paul.
Lavina Jane "Vi" Freese, age 89, of Webster, Wis., formerly of Baldwin, Wis., and Hastings, Minn., died on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. Vi was born on July 16, 1921, in Hastings, to parents John and Elizabeth Newman. Vi was a graduate of Hastings High School. On June 22, 1942, in San Francisco, Calif., she would be united in marriage to Ralph LeRoy "Bud" Freese. Vi worked many different clerical jobs in the area, including Northern States Power, First Bank of Baldwin, and with the St. Croix County Ag Stabilization Committee.
Frances T. Carlson, age 82, of Hastings, died Oct. 28, 2010, at her home. Frances was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Hastings, to Francis and Mildred (Bolin) Schmitz. She married Allen J. Carlson on Feb. 20, 1952, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children Mark Carlson, Edward Carlson, and Catherine Van Dyke Lutrell; grandson Luke; and brother Edward. Frances is survived by her children Frank J. Carlson of Washington D.C., Robert A. (Teri) Carlson of Hastings, Paul E. (Deb) Carlson of Hastings, Donald J. Carlson of S. St.
Elizabeth I. (Melby) Hecimovich, age 90, of Hastings, died Oct. 28, 2010, at the Augustana Health Care Center. Beth was born June 23, 1920, in Spicer, Minn., to John and Edna (Erickson) Melby. She was a 1938 graduate of Hastings High School and served as a WAC during WWII.
James E. Taveirne, 59, of Hastings, formerly Kentucky, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, Nov. 1, in Hastings.
