Rita S. Bauer, age 69, of Hastings, died June 9, 2010, following a long-term illness. Rita was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Douglas Township, to Eugene and Susan (Hurber) Feidt. She was a 1958 graduate of Hastings High School and married Loren Bauer on Sept.
Sharon Ann Hudson, nee Hagen, born March 4, 1943n in Hastings, Minn., and passed away June 9, 2010, in Stillwater, Minn. She liked to garden and paint as well as doing her woodworking. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hudson; son, Lawrence Hudson; parents, Edwin and Ruth Hagen. Theodore "Ted" Bohn, age 48, of Rosemount, died June 7, 2010. Ted was born in Hastings on August 23, 1961, to Theodore and Carol (Ehmke) Bohn. He graduated from Rosemount High School in 1979 and worked as a farmer. He married Barb Gallagher in 1998.
Sophia H. "Bobby" Elling, 92, of Norwood, Minn., passed away on June 6, 2010, after suffering a stroke. She was the mother of Hastings City Council member Danna Elling Schultz, mother-in-law to Doug Schultz and grandmother of Libby and Abby Schultz. Bobby, as she was known to all her friends, was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Hamburg, Minn., to Herman and Maria Sophia (Harms) Mueller. Bobby graduated from Central High School (Norwood-Young America) in 1937. On July 7, 1940, she married Clement Elling.
Bette Jane Radke Knoll was born in Bayport, Minn., on Jan. 25, 1927, to William and Ella Radke. She graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1940 with honors. After graduating, she attended an art school and music school for two years. She attended Vauro Music & Dancing for two years in South St. Paul (where her parents lived for 30 years). She joined the Musician Union soon after and played and sang in many shows at that time, as well as, many nightclubs in the Metro area. She wanted to play some other instruments, so she chose to play saxophone, clarinet and banjo.
Rosena M. Nelson, age 94, of Grand Meadow, Minn., mother of Nancy Schaffer of Hastings, Minn., and Donna (Rich) Newton of Longmont, Colo., died Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center where she had resided for a little over a year. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ann Siverling officiating. Burial will take place at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Frankford Township, Mower County. Friends may call from noon until time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Mary C. "Midge" Knoll, age 86, of Hastings, passed away peacefully June 2, 2010, at Augustana Health Care Center of Hastings. Mary was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Hastings to Isadore and Ophelia Huberty. She married Raymond Knoll on May 18, 1946, in Hastings at St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was a proud member of the Woman's Army Corp (WAC), serving during WWII, and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Midge is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sr.; brothers, Isadore Jr. and Charles Huberty.
Mark Allen Brand, age 53, of Prescott, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at his home. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prescott. George Weinhandl Sr., age 81, of Hampton, died June 1, 2010, at Cannon Falls Community Medical Center. George was born Dec. 4, 1928, to Paul and Maria (Weinzettel) Weinhandl in Apetlon, Austria. He left his beloved homeland in 1950 and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, where he married Ernestine Heiss on August 18, 1951, living there for ten years. In 1961, they moved to Minnesota with their three children. George had worked as a meat cutter for Twin City Meat and Westlund Provision, and was retired Local UFCW 789 in St.
Arleen M. Willeke, age 82, passed away May 28, 2010, at Redeemer Residence in Minneapolis, Minn. Arleen was born to Edward and Anna Kuhn on Dec. 17, 1927, in St. Cloud, Minn. She married Anthony Willeke in 1949. Arleen has been a resident of Hastings since 1958 and served as the St. Boniface parish secretary in the 1980s through the early 1990s. Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five older siblings. She is survived by children, Steve (Sharon), Larry (Lynne), and Carol (Tom) Albin; grandchildren, Shane, Briana, Brett and Lucy. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m.
