Albert Otto Ehrich, age 85, of Hastings, died May 15, 2010, at Regina Medical Center. Albert was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Richland Township, Minn., to Frederick and Veronica Ehrich. He married Delores (Pat) Patterson June 6, 1948. He worked as a hired hand for many local farmers in the Kenyon and Hastings areas. Albert was employed by Con-Agra Foods, and retired from the flour mill in 1990. He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Hastings, and was a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed working out at the YMCA every day.
Jan L. (Carlson) Sorbel, 76, of Hastings, died May 14, 2010. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, with visitation at 10 a.m., at Cottage Grove United Church of Christ, 7008 Lamar Ave. S. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
Judith A. Ott, age 65, of Calumet/Nevis, Minn., and formerly of River Falls, Wis., died on May 15, 2010, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.
Donna Ausen, age 70, of Hastings, passed away at home May 6, 2010. She was born Jan. 13, 1940, in White Rock, S.D., to Henry and Pearl Pontow. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ralph and Ruth Pontow. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a beautiful and kind person to all that knew her. We will miss her more and more as each day passes. We love you grandma. Donna is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry"; children, Gerald "Jerry" Jr.
William "Bill" Joseph Roberts, age 70, of Park Rapids, Minn., formerly a longtime Cottage Grove, Minn., resident, passed away peacefully at his home after a valiant battle against cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, Minn., with visitation from noon until the time of the service. Brian John Jacobson, age 34, of Lake City, died tragically as a result of an automobile accident on Monday, May 3, in Hastings. Brian was born in Red Wing on August 27, 1975, the son of Richard and Kathleen (Watson) Jacobson. Brian grew up in the Red Wing area and graduated from Central High School in 1993. He was a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard, serving two honorable tours in Iraq. He received a Combat Action Badge and earned a battlefield promotion to staff sergeant. He was currently employed at Army Aviation Support Facility as an electronics technician.
David W. Rowe, age 74, a retired contractor of Denmark Township died Tuesday, May 4, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Richard R. Berens, a former Hastings jeweler, age 84, died May 4, 2010, in Leesburg, Fla. Richard was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Minneapolis, to Roman and Ethel (Lawson) Berens. He married JoAnn Borgerding on May 6, 1950, in Minneapolis. Richard was a WWII Navy veteran, and a member of the VFW in both Hastings and Leesburg, a member of the Hastings Am. Legion, and enjoyed both golf and bowling. He owned and operated Berens Jewelry in Hastings for many years. After his retirement, he moved to Leesburg in 1991. He married Janet Brown on Sept.
Lynn D. Reichert, age 76, of Hastings, passed away May 2, 2010, at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born to John and Blanche Reichert in Prescott, Wis., on Jan. 29, 1934. Lynn married Arleda on May 15, 1971, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Roger J. Geraghty, age 75, of Hastings, died May 2, 2010, of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Geraghty and Marguerite (Jarms) Geraghty; his two siblings, Patricia (Geraghty) Peverill and Emmett Geraghty USN Ret.; and all aunts and uncles. Survived by his wife of 53 years and best friend, Sharlene (Easton) Geraghty; and five children, Capt. Barb Geraghty USN, Ret.; Joe (JunHee) Geraghty; Mike Geraghty (special friend, Jane); Joan (Dennis) Hemenway; Carol (Rich) Schoenthaler.
