David W. Rowe, age 74, a retired contractor of Denmark Township died Tuesday, May 4, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Richard R. Berens, a former Hastings jeweler, age 84, died May 4, 2010, in Leesburg, Fla. Richard was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Minneapolis, to Roman and Ethel (Lawson) Berens. He married JoAnn Borgerding on May 6, 1950, in Minneapolis. Richard was a WWII Navy veteran, and a member of the VFW in both Hastings and Leesburg, a member of the Hastings Am. Legion, and enjoyed both golf and bowling. He owned and operated Berens Jewelry in Hastings for many years. After his retirement, he moved to Leesburg in 1991. He married Janet Brown on Sept.
Lynn D. Reichert, age 76, of Hastings, passed away May 2, 2010, at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born to John and Blanche Reichert in Prescott, Wis., on Jan. 29, 1934. Lynn married Arleda on May 15, 1971, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Roger J. Geraghty, age 75, of Hastings, died May 2, 2010, of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Geraghty and Marguerite (Jarms) Geraghty; his two siblings, Patricia (Geraghty) Peverill and Emmett Geraghty USN Ret.; and all aunts and uncles. Survived by his wife of 53 years and best friend, Sharlene (Easton) Geraghty; and five children, Capt. Barb Geraghty USN, Ret.; Joe (JunHee) Geraghty; Mike Geraghty (special friend, Jane); Joan (Dennis) Hemenway; Carol (Rich) Schoenthaler.
Donald Wiech, of Red Wing, formerly of Hastings, passed away May 1, 2010, and went to join his beloved wife who passed away March 4, 2010. Don served in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 455 until his retirement in 1985. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death.
Neal Henning Anderson, 85, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, April 28, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1924, to Henning and Leona (Siepelmeyer) Anderson in Red Wing, Minn. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1944. Upon graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps and attended flight school in Texas and New Mexico. He returned to Red Wing at the end of WWII and began his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. He retired after more than 35 years with the phone company and began his travel adventures. He married Dolores Catherine Daeffler on Feb. 15, 1947.
Roland "Rollie" Pabst, age 77, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at his home in Hastings. Rollie was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Stillwater, to Albert and Irene (Johnson) Pabst. He married Marjorie Ruhr on Feb. 15, 1958, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings.
Robert Clarence "Noose" Knoll, 72, Welch, died Thursday, April 22, at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Hastings, Minn., where he grew up and attended school. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps. He worked for Hastings Sanitation for 14 years, then worked in commercial fishing and finally worked at Treasure Island Water Treatment Plant for over 20 years. He married Rose Mary Schutz on July 31, 1970, in Watertown, S.D., and they made their home in Welch. He enjoyed fishing and always wanted to live near the river.
Magdalen "Maggie" Nohava, age 83, of Fosston, Minn., formerly of Lonsdale, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fosston with Father Dave Super presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service with a rosary and prayer service to be held at 1 p.m., all on Saturday at the church.
Nathan Allen Stewart, 24, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Red Wing. He was born Feb. 14, 1986, in Red Wing, the son of Claire and Helen (Quade) Stewart. He grew up and attended school in Goodhue, moving to Red Wing in 1995. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 2005 and attended the Southeast Technical College. He worked at Red Wing Shoe, Riedell and Eagle Intermodal. He enjoyed working on computers, playing video games, watching scary movies and hanging out with his friends.
